On July 6, 2023, she was found dead in the bathroom. She was invited to participate in the 33rd regular concert of Gimcheon City Choir, which was a joint concert with Mokpo City Choir. When it came time for the show, she didn’t show up. Event staff went to look for her and found her body in the women’s bathroom on the third floor of the concert venue. In an interview, event staff talked about this and said,
It’s time for Lee Sang-eun to go on stage, but she’s not backstage. When I looked in the bathroom I found her lying on the floor. ”
According to sources, police have launched an investigation into the incident; however, they do not suspect any foul play.
