Legal Worlds Collide When the Suits Cast Meets Judge Judy in e.l.f. Cosmetics’ Super Bowl Spot (Exclusive)

It’s a multiverse combination we couldn’t even imagine: The cast Suits involved in the legal drama in Judge Judy’s courtroom — inside a Super Bowl commercial.

In a PEOPLE exclusive, elf Cosmetics is premiering its 60-second commercial called “Judge Beauty” — starring Judge Judy, in her first commercial appearance. The Emmy-winning legal icon has been joined by three stars Suits: Gina Torres and Rick Hoffman (who play courtroom adversaries in the video) and Sarah Rafferty as the court reporter. All of this comes, of course, on the heels of news that the former USA Network series was the most-watched series last year after falling on Netflix.

The ad, which was creatively conceived, acted and written by Shadow, elf Beauty’s long-standing creative marketing and communications agency, focuses on the brand’s best-selling product in 2023, the Halo Glow Liquid Filter Complexion Enhancer with the premise that it’s a beauty offense to overspend on makeup.

The jury will be joined by comedian Benito Skinner (aka Benny Drama) Jury duties Ronald Gladden, with HeidiNCloset from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Grammy-winning singer Meghan Trainor. (With a few additions, including this PEOPLE writer and Judge Judy’s granddaughter, Sarah Rose, who appears on the new Judge Judy show, Judy Justice, as a legal clerk. Bestselling author and former NFL player Emmanuel Acho stands with Judge Beauty as bailiff.)

And since the ad is only about transgressions in beauty, PEOPLE asked the three Suits stars to admit their criminally aesthetic actions in real life.

For Torres: “Once upon a time, thin eyebrows.” For Rafferty: “When I was growing up, there was really, really great lipstick. Silver City Pink lipstick. Very silvery!”

“Frost!” Torres remembers.

For Hoffman, it’s a question of sunscreen, or the lack of it. “I should listen to Sarah,” he says, recalling a trip to Australia the two took. “I should listen to her, it would help—and one day I don’t look like a leather bag.”

“I worry about how much time I spend thinking about your skin,” she says.

Not only that Suits the trio jumped at the chance to work together again, but were also thrilled to meet Judge Judy. “I made a fool of myself,” says Hoffman, “I literally became a star just because I grew up watching her for years. And then I finally said, ‘I have to ask her to make a video for my mom.'” She agreed to do it. “I have a video of you making your video,” Rafferty tells him. “I’ll text you.”

This Super Bowl reunion comes after else reunion, at this year’s Golden Globes, where Torres and Rafferty were introduced with Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht. Torres, who played steely executive partner Jessica Pearson, says the renewed interest in the show has been, “kind of weird and wonderful. It’s like, ‘Oh, yeah. They’re still here. They’ve done an amazing job.'”

Hoffman, who played the sometimes villainous Louis Litt, was thrilled to be working with Torres and Rafferty again. – It was the peak of happiness. Rafferty, who played legal secretary-turned-COO Donna Paulsen, adds, “It was like coming home.”

Suits Cast Reunites for elf Cosmetics Super Bowl Ad: ‘Like Homecoming’ (Exclusive)

There is currently a lot of talk about the possible new A series of suits. Last week, PEOPLE confirmed that NBCUniversal had ordered a pilot series set in the same universe as the original legal drama. Project, under the leadership Suits from creator Aaron Korsh, will feature an all-new cast, although it remains unknown if any of the cast from the original 2011-2019 series will appear. It is titled Suits: LAand will be filmed in Vancouver, with production slated to begin in March.

Torres says, “I have no information about that.”

Rafferty says, “I mean, if they need Donna, and I guess if they need—I’ll speak for my friends here—Jessica or Lewis, we’ll all put on our high heels and march on to Vancouver!”

It is It’s interesting, the three agree, to wonder what their characters are up to right now, in another part of the multiverse.

Torres pauses. “I mean what is Jessica Pearson doing at any given time? Grinding your heels and figuring out which corner of the world to occupy next!”

Hoffman thinks his character, “probably causes a lot of chaos, but then at some point, he kind of makes up for the crap that he just left in the office. And he kind of cleans it up.”

Torres says, “He must be in prison for life.”

As for Rafferty’s character, she says, “Donna’s crushing it at work and yeah, she’s wearing her clothes and all that stuff. And she’s still keeping all those relationships going, like juicy and strong with Jessica with Louis, with everybody.”

Hoffman says, “I think Louis keeps calling Donna and begging her to come work.”

But here in this IRL universe, the actors keep their relationships strong off the set, be that as it may Suits or an advertisement for an elf. There is, of course, a lot of texting. If you’re wondering who answers the fastest, they say it’s Gina. “Yes, our boss,” Hoffman says. Most emojis? Also Torres. Dirtiest jokes? Torres and Hoffman say, “Sarah,” at the same time. “She goes lowman,” Hoffman says.

Then Rafferty says, “I wouldn’t even say it’s emoticons or dirty jokes. I think we have the strongest GIF game. I’m going to reveal very little about the content of the GIF game here, but we can go GIF by GIF by GIF. Without typing a single word.”

“And,” says Torres, “by the way, 70 percent of them are ours own GIFs from Suits!”
