Legendary Songwriter Diane Warren Says She Lost Her House of 30 Years in L.A. Fires

Diane Warren lost her beach house to a fire in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday, January 8, the legendary songwriter shared a post on Instagram revealing that her beach house of 30 years was gone and posted a photo of a rock in the middle of ocean waves.

“This is the last picture I took of Leah’s Rock from my beach house,” Warren wrote, referring to her late friend Leah, who died of cancer (Warren previously said the rock near her house reminded her of Leah). “I’ve had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it went down in a fire last night.”

Warren — a longtime animal advocate who works with various animal shelters and rescues — added, “He’s got a rainbow shining on him, which I think is a sign of hope for all the creatures affected by this tragedy. Animals and Rescue Ranch is fine, most importantly, take care everyone.❤️💔”

A series of wildfires have ravaged parts of Southern California, forcing thousands of residents from their homes as it quickly engulfs large parts of the Los Angeles area.

The first fire broke out in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and has burned nearly 3,000 acres of land since it broke out around 10:30 a.m. The Eaton Fire (also called the Close Fire) followed, breaking out around 6:30 p.m. ; by late morning it had covered 10,000 hectares. By 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Woodley Fire was burning, consuming 75 acres.

North of that, the Hurst Fire, which has grown to about 500 hectares, broke out around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and was still burning around 5 a.m. Wednesday. A fifth fire, the Tyler Fire, broke out west of LA near Coachella.

Among the more than 80,000 people displaced were many celebrities who have called the area home for decades. Some, including Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag and Cameron Mathison, are already reporting that their homes have been destroyed.

In a poignant video posted on TikTok, the ex hills star Spencer Pratt revealed his home was among those burned.

“The nightmare has come true,” the father of two wrote with the video.

His wife, Heidi Montag, posted a follow-up on TikTok confirming the loss of their home and thanking fans for their thoughts and prayers. “Thank God we’re safe… just… no words,” she said.

Mathison, 55, added: “Thank you to everyone who came I went out and checked in. I can’t reply to everyone so I wanted to give an update here. Sending so many prayers to everyone affected by these fires🙏🏼”
