Leo Sayer Age and Early Life
Leo Sayer was born on 21 May 1948 in Shoreham-by-Seau, Sussex, to an Irish mother, Theresa Nolan, and an English father, Thomas EG Sayer. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic Elementary School. He was the second of three brothers, the first being Michael, who was born in 1939, and the third, Brian, who was born in 1951. He later attended Blessed Robert Southwell (now St Oscar Romero Catholic School) in Goring-by. -Sea before going on to study commercial art and graphic design at West Sussex College of Art and Design in Worthing, Sussex.

Career
- Sayer began his musical career writing songs with David Courtney, including “Giving It All Away”, which gave Roger Daltrey of the Who his first solo hit in 1973. Sayer began his musical career the same year, under the guidance of Adam Faith, who is signed to the Chrysalis record label in the United Kingdom and Warner Bros. Records in the United States.
- The compilation album The Very Best of Leo Sayer (originally released by Chrysalis in the UK and worldwide, with a different cover by Rhino Records in the US in 2000) gave Sayer his first UK No.1 LP and his eighth consecutive UK Top 20 album in 1979.
- With DJ Meck’s remix of “Thunder In My Heart,” he returned to the top of the UK Singles Chart on 12 February 2006. It was his first UK Top 10 appearance in almost twenty-four years, and his second chart-topper in to the United Kingdom almost three decades after its first. Leo Sayer: At His Very Best, a career-spanning compilation CD, was released in the UK on 6 March 2006.
- Sayer launched his album, Restless Years, in January 2015 and toured from Perth to Singapore, with several supporting acts including Jason Ayres. Sayer also appeared in Singapore’s Leo Sayer in Concert – 40 Years at the Top, presented by the British Theater Playhouse in January 2015. Sayer received a Gold Merit Badge from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors in October 2015.
- Sayer’s latest album, Selfie, was released on Demon Records on 3 May 2019. It was recorded at his home studio in Plainland, Queensland, Australia, called The Barn.
