Four top students from Karnataka, Tanishka, Vatsa Ashish Batra, Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule and Rucha Pawashe, secured the same score and percentile in NEET 2022, i.e. 715 points or 99.9997733 percentile. However, the National Test Agency (NTA) announced the winners as per the tie-breaking rule book. An NTA official revealed this provision while speaking to the media. NTA officials stated,
Candidates with the same score will be ranked according to tie-breaker rules, where candidates with higher scores in Biology will be ranked higher than other candidates. If the same mark appears in biology, the same rules apply in chemistry and then physics. Even after this, if the scores remain the same, older candidates get higher rankings. “

- Vasa Ashish said he chose to study medicine because he loved the subjects and found being a doctor to be a noble profession. In a media conversation on September 8, 2022, he hoped to become a surgeon after completing his Bachelor of Medicine in Internal Medicine, adding that he might choose civil service and follow his parents’ path later in life. He said,
If I had the chance, I would probably work in the civil service later in life. I haven’t decided yet. “
He added that he had been preparing hard for the exam for the past two years and had also focused on NEET in high school. He said,
In class 11, I didn’t study much for NEET. It was not until class 12th that I spent a lot of time preparing for the exams. In addition to tutoring, I used to study by myself for 6 to 7 hours a day. “
