Lily Collins’ Emily Cooper simply worked as the Romans in the last few episodes Emily in Paris.
The star of the Netflix rom-com dished exclusively to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Sept. 10, about her favorite outfit from the second installment of Season 4 of the show. The outfits for Season 4, Part 2 have a noticeable departure from Emily’s previous style, which may be because Emily is actually in Rome this time.
“I think there’s an outfit in two episodes at the end, which was a vintage Alaïa skirt and a white collared shirt with straight sleeves and a little scarf,” Collins, 35, tells PEOPLE.
“It felt like a real departure for Emily, with more Italians, more festive vibes and more practical running around with flats,” she adds. “I felt cinematic.”

The actress also talks to PEOPLE about the inspiration for the outfits this time around. When the trailer came out, fans noticed how similar her ensembles were to Audrey Hepburn in Roman holiday.
“[Part] 2 includes Charade view of the top of the mountain, as well Roman holidayobviously,” she says, referring to two of Hepburn’s films. In one scene, Collins wears oversized sunglasses, a fur coat and matching hat, just like Hepburn in the 1963 rom-com mystery.

She also wore eternal clothes with a skirt and scarf à la Roman holiday. “AND [costume designer Marylin Fitoussi] always trying to draw inspiration, but give it an Emily twist. And so I think for us that was exactly what we did,” she continues.
“We took pictures that were so iconic,” she adds. “So it’s important to always have that touch.”

Collins also told PEOPLE about it The Lizzie McGuire movie reference in one of the new episodes. Although she couldn’t take credit for it, it turned out to be a nice personal touch for her, when her character mentions that he’s seen “so much” of Rome in the movies.
“Unfortunately, I can’t take credit for that line, but I found it to be one of the genius lines of the season,” she explained. “I definitely grew up loving that movie, Hilary Duff, Lizzie McGuireso I was very proud that Emily Cooper brought it up.”
