We live in the ‘Beverly Hills of Britain’ home to Hollywood stars, Premier League legends & streets lined with supercars

THOSE who live in “Britain’s Beverly Hills” have told how they socialize with Premier League footballers and Hollywood actors.

Just a stone’s throw from Chelsea Football Club’s training ground, homeowners in the sleepy villages of Oxshott and Cobham stargaze daily, surrounded by 24-hour security.

Peter Crouch, Jorginho and Raheem Sterling are just some of the players who call the Surrey area home, along with former Hollywood veterans Stanley Tucci and Antonio Banderas.

Tree-lined streets and security gates give privacy to the multi-million pound mansions.

Oxshott has just a handful of shops, including an upscale coffee shop and a posh butcher – and the owners spot blacked-out Bentleys and Jaguars driving past.

In nearby Cobham, the high street is full of Pilates studios and juice bars.

Local butcher Joe Harrington (21), who grew up in the area, regularly sees flashy cars and recognizable faces behind the counter.

He said: “We see a lot of footballers hanging around as well as their friends and family.

“We get a couple in the shop, but people usually come in on their behalf, we don’t see them directly every time.

“There’s a few big names and faces hanging around, someone came in the other day who saw Raheem Sterling at the petrol station down there.

You see loads of faces that have pulled out of the training ground over the years, I remember seeing Jorginho coming out in a red Ferrari.

“There are a lot of them here, they all have big fours, Bentleys, some BMWs, Audis, Jaguars.

“I did some landscaping work and there are some massive houses.”

Builder Ian Shoesmith, 45, said: “There are a lot of footballers who live here. You see Peter Crouch here and there but you can’t miss him.”

Many Chelsea players are regulars at Cobham’s Grappelli, an Italian restaurant in the center of the village.

Manager Eddie Alves, 36, said: “This restaurant, the food is amazing, our chef is very talented and has experience in Michelin-starred restaurants.

“But it’s also the atmosphere we create. I’m half Italian, half Brazilian, so I bring this little bit of spice.

“We treat everyone who comes here the same, I’m not the biggest football fan, but especially with Jorginho, he’s also half Italian, half Brazilian, so we bonded a lot.

“We even became good friends, we went out together, my kids are friends with his kids, he’s an amazing guy.

“He even did a humanitarian action here with us, he celebrated his birthday here with us, so I love them all, but I pay special attention to Jorginho.

“He’s an amazing guy, he’s No. 1 for me.”

He added: “We also have Ashley Cole very regularly, John Terry very regularly.

“The whole team comes here. The chef even tries to help them eat.

“Robert Sanchez came to us recently.

“The old players used to come here, Roberto di Matteo, Jimmy Hasselbank, Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch, and they all come with their families.

“We’ve also had Neto, who’s just signed, and Marco Guehi – lovely guy, fantastic. Noni Madueke, great guy, they’re all so lovely.”

Life on the ‘Golden Mile’

MAJESTIC mansions on Harrogate’s posh Fulwith Mill Lane have sold for between £2.5m and £3.5m in recent years, with one currently on the market priced at £3.7m.

A country road near Pannal is in the heart of Yorkshire’s Golden Triangle, home to the absolutely minted.

Many homes are equipped with large electric gates, security cameras and guard dogs to guard them.

They often come with swimming pools, tennis courts and well-kept lawns and gardens.

For those who can’t quite afford to live here, they can always walk around and dream about what property they would buy if they won the national lottery big.

Resident Boris Gnonto (55), father of Leeds United star Willy Gnonto (20), loves living on the street with his Italian superstar son.

Boris from Ivory Coast moved to the street last year and likes to go for walks in the neighborhood.

He told the Examiner: “I’ve lived here for a year. It’s easy for me. It is very quiet here which is very important. No problem here. It’s very nice to me.”

The location is excellent for Willy, who regularly has to go to the LUFC training ground in Thorp Arch, near Wetherby.

Boris added that so far he hasn’t really connected with any neighborhood because he likes his son’s company.

Katie Thomas, 52, who was waiting to collect her daughter from a Pilates studio in Cobham, believes transport links are the main reasons many high-profile people call the area home.

She said: “I have to qualify this with the fact that I’ve never been to Beverly Hills, but there’s definitely a bit of glamor to it.

“A whole range of people live here.

“You only have to look at the estate agents down this road to realize that it has some extremely beautiful properties and is perfectly positioned for both the Surrey countryside and central London, and Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

“If you’re talking about location, location, location, this area has it.

“There are Chelsea players around, but I don’t think most people notice that and I think that’s what’s attractive about this area.

“He’s not going to stare at anyone because he’s going down the street.

“I don’t think anybody treats anybody any differently no matter who they are.”
