Lionel Richie is counting down the days until his baby is born.
The American Idol The judge, 74, appeared on the red carpet for the show’s season finale on Sunday, May 19 and jokingly revealed that his daughter Sofia Richie and her husband Elliot Grainge are having a “complete nervous breakdown” as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby together.
“I keep saying, ‘Calm down. When the baby comes, that’s when your nervous breakdown will start, you know,’ Lionel said Extra.
The musician then went on to talk about how much his life has changed over the years with his youngest daughter, 25, now a mum.
“I mean, my life is so full right now. I mean, it was 39 years ago We Are the World: The Biggest Night in Pop, and now it’s here on Netflix and it’s an incredible success, number one in the world,” he said. ” And then we have my Sofie — my child now has a child. What the hell is going on?”

And even though he will become a grandfather for the third time, the “Hello” singer has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
“I’m touring again with Earth, Wind & Fire this summer and it’s just a great time, and of course another great season American Idol“, Lionel told the outlet. “I mean, come on.”
Apart from Sofia, Lionel is the father of daughter Nicole Richie (42) and son Miles Brockman Richie (29). Nicole shares with his ex-wife Brenda Harvey-Richie, while Sofia and Miles are his children from his second marriage with ex-wife Diane Alexander.

Lionel is grandfather to Nicole’s children: daughter Harlow Winter, 16, and son Sparrow James, 14, who she shares with husband Joel Madden.
Sofia announced in January that she was expecting a baby girl with her record-setting executive husband, 30.
“She’s growing pretty fast, so [the due date] it’s a little bit in the air,” she said Vogue in that time.

Earlier this month, Sofia celebrated nine months pregnant by sharing a side profile of her baby bump.
“Waiting for you little girl,” she wrote on her Instagram stories before sharing a zoomed-in version of the photo on her page.
“9 months of bliss 💕🕊️,” read her caption.
