Lisa Jewell is back, with more excitement in store. PEOPLE can exclusively share the cover of the bestselling author’s upcoming thriller, Don’t let him in. The book will be published in the summer of 2025 by Atria Books, a publishing house of Simon and Schuster. When Paddy Swan, a restaurateur, is pushed onto the tracks of an oncoming train, he leaves his wife Nina and 20-year-old daughter Ash reeling. After Paddy’s funeral, Nina and Ash receive a package from one of Paddy’s friends, Nick Ratfcliffe, along with a lighter that once belonged to Paddy. The gift, much to Ash’s disapproval, leads Nick and Nina to form a special bond.

“I just felt something was going on with him,” Jewell said at the time. “I don’t know why I thought that. I literally saw him for all of 10 seconds. Afterwards I thought, ‘I’m so creepy and weird, aren’t I? Seeing men through windows and becoming obsessed with them!'”

The author also talked about her writing style and how she doesn’t find it difficult to separate the darker themes she includes in her novels from her own life. “Some writers are less detached than I am,” Jewell said. “But most of the thriller writers I know are very good [knowing] it’s the place you go when you work. When you’re actually writing, you’re just writing words on the screen. It doesn’t seem dark while you’re doing it.”
