Lisa Kudrow Kept Telling Ray Romano They Should Do a Sitcom While Shooting New Drama: 'I Forget the Hard Work' (Exclusive)

Lisa Kudrow wants to bring Ray Roman back to comedy!

on There is no good deed premiere on December 4, the Friends alum, 61, described the work of Everyone loves Raymond star, 66, about the latest Netflix drama as a dream and revealed a potential project she proposed to him on set.

“He’s everything I thought he would be. He’s easy. He’s easy. He’s a fantastic actor,” she told PEOPLE exclusively on the red carpet. “That’s all I kind of fantasized about. I’d see Ray in other things, and I’d be like, ‘God, he’s a really good actor. I’d love to work with him, but I guess that’s never going to happen.'”

Then, when she got the chance to star alongside him, Kudrow admitted she felt “nervous” about working together for the first time, but he “turned out exactly what I thought he would be.”

When asked if she would ever be interested in returning to multi-camera sitcoms, the actress said she hasn’t closed the door on the possibility. In fact, she tried to take Roman along for the ride.

“I kept saying to Ray, like, ‘Let’s do a sitcom. Come on. Rehearse all week and then shoot. Let’s do it,'” she recalled, though she added, “I think I forgot how hard it was to start doing one of those emission.”

Everyone loves Raymond ran for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005 on CBS. Romano, who played the sitcom’s title character, Raymond Barone, also told PEOPLE that he hasn’t seen an episode of his Emmy-winning series in 15 to 20 years, but has since finished rewatching it.

“I made it through all of them. I forced myself – he admitted. “Even then, 20 years ago, I was quite critical of it, close to it. I succeeded. I was there. I saw how butter is made, or as they say. I appreciate being removed from that now.”

IN There is no good deedwhich premiered Dec. 12 on Netflix, Kudrow and Romano star as longtime couple Lydia and Paul as they “decide to leave their empty nest to forge a new life,” so they list their longtime home “and the real estate frenzy begins,” according to the official synopsis.

“Many families race to buy what they believe is their dream home, convinced that it will solve all of their very different problems. But as Lydia and Paul know all too well, sometimes the dream home can be a real nightmare,” the logline reads. continues. “As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets floating around their longtime home, Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way to escape the past is to finally face it.”
