Loose Women panellist becomes latest star to quit ITV show after reports of ‘toxicity’ backstage

PENNY Lancaster is the latest big name to quit Loose Women amid recent talk of “toxicity” backstage.

The former model, who is married to rocker Rod Stewart, no longer appears on the ITV chat show’s official cast list.

Mum-of-two Penny, 52, follows stalwarts Carol McGiffin and Saira Khan to the door of daytime favorite “the blocky”.

She first appeared in 2014 and was a regular until September last year, sitting on the panel 105 times.

A source said: “Penny enjoyed doing the show but it requires a long-term commitment from the regular judges and that’s something Penny can’t do.

“She is on tour with Rod and also has family commitments in the UK and abroad. She could still guest.”

It comes after agent Melanie Blake, who represented 15 women on Loose Women, made the revelation on This Morning after the scandal.

She said: “In my experience, that show is the place to work, not This Morning.”

Speaking earlier, she said: “Put a bunch of ambitious women together with a small amount of space to fill and inevitably there’s always going to be tension.

“Showbiz is not all diamonds and roses. Despite the party line of Loose Women being best friends from day one, it’s just that, a party line.”

Carol, 63, left in March after 18 years in the service, citing an “unfair and unenforceable” contract.

She also accused bosses of “really, really waking up” the show.

She said, “I feel like I don’t fit in that place.”

Saira, 53, quit at the end of 2021 after she said bosses asked her to open an OnlyFans account to create content – which ITV denies.

The presenter, a married Muslim woman with children, said: “I felt humiliated, angry, disappointed.”
