Lou Biffis obituary

In addition to being a successful businessman, Lou Biffis was a visionary who established the Nottawasaga Inn Resort and Conference Center as a premier destination for travelers visiting the Alliston region. His adventure began in 1967 when he spearheaded the initiative to hold a plebiscite on alcohol and managed to collect enough signatures in less than six months to make the petition legal. After only a few weeks, the development of the resort began thanks to this victory in November of the same year. When it opened in 1968, the Nottawasaga Inn had 40 guest rooms, a dining room, coffee shop and banquet space. In 1977, Biffis expanded the resort’s appeal to both locals and tourists by adding an international-sized soccer field, proving that it was more than just accommodation.
