Love Is Blind's Ramses Says He Would've Felt 'Exhausted and Overwhelmed' Every Day If He Moved Forward with Marissa

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Love is blind season 7 reunion

Love is blindRamses Prashad gets candid about his broken engagement to Marissa George — even if it means upsetting her in the process.

During the Season 7 reunion, which dropped on Netflix on October 30, Ramzes and Marissa came face-to-face after the dramatic breakup in the season finale.

When co-hosts Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey asked her what it was like to watch the scene, Marissa became emotional, saying she “felt like my heart was breaking again.”

Although Ramses insisted that he found the scene “difficult” to watch, he noted that he “didn’t go into the experience wanting to destroy anyone or leave anyone heartbroken.” Instead, he said, he came to the show “looking for the love of my life and for most of this experience I thought I found her in Marissa.”

When asked what ultimately changed his mind, Ramzes admitted that his split with Marissa came down to the fact that he felt a noticeable “space” in their energies that he couldn’t ignore.

“There was one day when it really hit me and I realized and recognized that if I continued with Marissa, every day I was going to be in a place where I was going to feel drained and exhausted,” he said. “I don’t want to change who she is. She deserves a person and a love that will fully embrace who she is…I just felt that that person couldn’t be me.”

Marissa’s mother, Vanessa – who made waves on the show when she first met Ramses – also had her say, admitting that she “wanted to hit [Ramses] in her throat” after he ended things with her daughter.

“I’m thankful he broke it off, she would have endured that relationship,” Vanessa said, noting that Ramses “did the right thing” but should have been “honest and human enough” to be open about his feelings and have doubts.

“She thought it was you and you broke her,” Vanessa told Ramses. “I had to help her up. She was devastated … you didn’t see that part, you had to go and cry like you were hurt.”

Vanessa’s comments struck a chord with Marissa, who began to cry on stage. Meanwhile, Ramses told Vanessa that she was “right” and didn’t raise his concerns earlier because he wasn’t sure if it would “become a problem.”

Marissa then pointed out that she “never had a say” in their relationship, and Ramzes admitted to missteps, saying that “I take full responsibility” for not being more “accessible” with my emotions.

“I saw that we had a future…unfortunately, I came to that realization towards the end of this experience and it just led to a very heartbreaking situation,” he added.

To conclude their conflict, Ramses clarified their conversation about birth control and contraception, which he felt had been misinterpreted in the series.

“I never tried to give Marissa an ultimatum,” he said, admitting that he respected Marissa’s choice not to use oral conception and they came to a solution they both agreed on. “It wasn’t a situation where I was whiny or cocky or whatever the perception was.”

Marissa and Ramzes had one of the most emotional journeys on the show, marked by many deep conversations not usually shown on Love is blind rather, from politics and sex to their attitude towards the military.

The two got engaged after Marissa ended things with Bohdan Olinares in capsules and Ramzes scaled back his relationship with Marissa. Although they were as happy as could be in Mexico, things got real when they returned to the real world, with their different beliefs and perspectives pretty clear to family and friends.

Things came to a head at the end of episode 11 when Ramses and Marissa discussed their future and Ramses’ concerns about remarrying. Eventually, his fear of hurting Marissa became his main concern and he decided it was best that they each go their separate ways.

“How could I be so sure and you not?” Marissa asked in the episode. “I want someone to be sure of me.”

But despite applying for a marriage license together and being just days away from their wedding, Ramses called it off, leaving Marissa heartbroken and sobbing on the floor.

“This is the worst day of my life,” Marissa cried in the heartbreaking scene that ended at the start of episode 12, before removing the ring and leaving it on the carpet.
