Unknown Facts About Lucy Ryder Richardson

The well-known Modern Shows® events follow on from Showhome, a unique open house event that began in July 2002 at Lucy’s 1960s home in South East London. Petra Curtis and Lucy put together everything they loved, from Eley Kishimoto and Multi pottery to 1960s Scandinavian chests and chairs bought directly from Danish auctions.

They were inspired to host a larger event where Mid-Century Modern dealers and designers could come together to sell their work after selling 90% of their curated collection of Mid-Century Modern and Mid-Century furniture in one day.

Since then, the dynamic design-loving team has won prestigious clients such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Adform, The Modern House and tapas brand Brindisa. They also produced bigger and better shows while advising television producers, prominent journalists, and prominent collectors, amassing an investment collection of furniture and artwork in the process.

Despite being a “Modern Antiques Show” and not a designer label, Modern Shows was asked by over 20 retailers and designers to display the Midcentury Modern® Pop Up at Designjunction 2012 because the Midcentury Modern® trademark has become a symbol of great style, history and integrity. It was dubbed “best downstairs” when it followed the 2013 Midcentury Modern® pop-up design exhibition.

South Bank and Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway selected Modern Shows to be the furniture and homewares curators for the 2011 Vintage Festival. Midcentury Modern® and The Midcentury Show have a cult following of midcentury enthusiasts and design lovers who they get together on a Sunday several times a year to nurture their shared love of design in what is described as an “inspiring museum-style pop-up shop.” by Max Fraser, London Design Guide. Time Out named them an entertainment destination in 2009, and Stella magazine named them the best store in 2014.

He explains that as he has grown older and wiser, he prefers a character he can identify with to one he can ignore. Although MacFadyen can’t yet claim to have experienced everything with Tom, the family connection has been a big help.

It was easier to understand and sympathize with him, he said. However, not being a father, which is another responsibility, there were some things he had to figure out. However, it can be difficult to tell the difference between you and the character when he represents someone close to you. However, I find it a challenge that I enjoy.
