Lyft and Uber Are Offering Discounted Rides to the Polls on Election Day — Here's How to Score the Deals

Ride-sharing companies Lyft and Uber are helping voters get to the polls on Election Day, Nov. 5, with discounted rides to the polls.

“Every American citizen should be able to exercise their right to vote without having to worry about the cost or difficulty of getting to the polls,” David Risher, CEO of Lyft, said in a press release obtained by PEOPLE.

Lyft is offering 50% off rides, bikes and scooters to get to polling places nationwide on Tuesday, November 5th. You can get a discount (up to 10 USD discount) with the code: VOTE24.

Lyft has committed to providing more rides to the polls on Election Day than it did in 2022, and is also sharing voter education resources through strategic partnerships with the NAACP, When We All Vote, the League of Women Voters and VoteRiders. For the 2024 election, Lyft hopes to encourage young people to vote through Community College Commitment, a coalition with Showtime/MTV and Levi Strauss & Co. to boost the post-secondary student vote.

In the 2024 election, there are significantly fewer polling stations available compared to 2020, which could result in longer travel times and fewer modes of transportation to the polls. But as Uber stated in its own press release, access to transportation “should not be a barrier for any voting citizen.”

To take advantage of Uber’s Election Day discount, drivers can find a “Go Vote” button on the app’s home screen, where they’ll be prompted to enter their home address and find their polling place. Voters can then request a ride to that location, which will automatically be added as a destination.
