Timothée Chalamet Transforms into Bob Dylan on Set of A Complete Unknown in N.Y.C.

Timothée Chalamet continues his transformation into Bob Dylan!

The 28-year-old actor — who will play a folk musician in the upcoming film Complete unknown – was photographed strolling through New York’s Chelsea neighborhood on Sunday in yet another outfit reminiscent of Dylan’s 20th-century wardrobe.

After last being seen in an old scarf and hat last week, Chalamet has been photographed once again, this time with a more dressed-up look from the world of Dylan.

On Sunday, Dune star could be seen walking around with his hands in his pockets in the new pictures while wearing a black button-up, green trousers, a brown brushed leather jacket and a pair of shades to complement his messy hair.

Chalamet was surrounded by cars reminiscent of the ’60s and ’70s, as he stood outside the Chelsea Hotel for one scene in particular.

While not much is known about James Mangold’s upcoming Dylan biopic, Chalamet seems committed to the wardrobe and the music.

Mangold, 60, previously confirmed that the actor will sing as Dylan in the film, which follows “a young, 19-year-old Bob Dylan who comes to New York with two dollars in his pocket” before “within three years he becomes a worldwide sensation “, the director told Collider last year.

“He was first accepted into the folk music family in New York and, of course, kind of surpassed him at a certain point as his star rises incredibly,” he said of the plot, before calling the film “an interesting true story and so interesting moment on the American scene.”

It will also reportedly feature portraits of other stars of the era, including Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger. Elle Fanning will play Dylan’s love interest Sylvia Russo, while Edward Norton will take on the role of Seeger.

In order to prepare for the role, Chalamet — only after his successes in Wonka and Dina: The second part — visited Dylan’s high school in Hibbing, Minnesota, where he spent quality time with the school’s drama department at their Hibbing Auditorium.

“He was a real gem,” the department posted on Facebook after his visit. “In town while researching all about Bob Dylan for an upcoming biopic, he asked his tour guide if he could meet the drama students who were working on their one-act competition.”

He also “sat down with them one-on-one, and talked about acting and theater” with students at the school. “After our guest left, our students had a final dress rehearsal. And they nailed it. Something must have inspired them,” the post continued.

Chalamet’s vocal coach Eric Vetro described the actor’s commitment to the role in a recent interview with PEOPLE, noting that audiences “will be shocked because you’ll think you’re hearing Bob Dylan sing.”

“Once again, he just has this uncanny ability to not act, but to really breathe life into it,” he explained. “He embodies Bob Dylan and what he was like at that age.”

Vetro added that from Willy Wonka to Bob Dylan, “it’s a completely different character, a completely different voice, everything.”

“He could turn on a dime. He’s so talented that he can switch very quickly to one role or another,” he said, comparing Chalamet’s performance to “what Renée Zellweger did with Judy Garland in 2019. Judy.
