Madhurika Rawat is the wife of Bipin Rawat, the first Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces. She served as President of the Defense Wives Welfare Association (DWWA). Madhulika and her husband Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021.

Profession

She works for the welfare of the families of Army personnel. She was also involved in various welfare projects to help the widows of martyrs. She provided employment opportunities for military wives and encouraged them to take courses such as tailoring, knitting bags and making baked goods. Previously, she served as President of the Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA). In 2021, she was appointed as the President of Defense Wives Welfare Association (DWWA).

On December 8, 2021, while she was flying from Delhi to Surur in a Mi-17 V5, the helicopter crashed near the Wellington Army Center in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. She was accompanied by Bipin Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder (CDS Defense Assistant), Lt Col Harjinder Singh (CDS Special Officer), PSO Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kumar, Lt Naik Vivek Kumar, Lt Naik B Sai Teja, and Havilda · Satpal in the helicopter. Later, the Indian Air Force announced via Twitter that Madhurika, her husband Bipin Rawat and 11 other people died in a helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. Captain Varun Singh was the only survivor of the accident.

It is deeply regrettable that General Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat and 11 other people on board have been confirmed to have perished in this tragic accident.

Madhulika Rawat is a close family associate who often comes to visit us in Bhopal. Madhulika ji, wife of late Bipin Rawat, was a close family associate. She was the daughter of late Shri Mrigendra Singh ji, MP from Suhagpur and used to come to Bhopal to visit us. My heart goes out to their families. May they find the strength to cope with this unimaginable loss. “

Her husband Bipin Rawat was cremated with full military honors at Brar Square Crematorium, Delhi Cantonment on December 10, 2021. Mahulika’s body was also placed on the same pyre.
