She was born Madhuri Shankar Dixit on May 15, 1967, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (age 56; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Taurus. She is often called “Dhak-Dhak Girl”. She is named after the song Dhak Dhak Karne Laga from the movie Beta. She is also known as the “Queen of Expressions”. She started learning Kathak dance when she was only 3 years old and is now a professional Kathak dancer. She attended Holy Child High School in Mumbai. After graduation, she continued her studies at Parle College, Mumbai, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, however, she dropped out of college to become a full-time actress. She started her acting career in 1984 by playing the lead role of Gauri in the Bollywood movie “Abodh”. In 1990, she won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film Dil, in which she played the protagonist Madhu Mehra opposite Aamir Khan. She also appeared in a TV series in 1984, but the show was not considered good enough and was not aired. Apart from this, she has also acted in many popular films such as Tezaab (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), “Hum Aapke Hain Koun”…!
