THEY seemed to be one of the few success stories from last year’s Married At First Sight.
Peggy Rose even thought she and Georges Bert would “outlive” Tasha Jay and Paul Liba – the only couple still together from their series.

But as soon as MAFS finished airing, Georges hung up.
Now, Peggy claims she later found out he cheated on her via text on Valentine’s Day – allegations he denies.
In an exclusive interview, Peggy, 33, opens up about their break-up, revealing she “went through hell” in the months since.
Alarm bells started ringing in December, a few weeks after the final episode of MAFS aired.
She tells us, “Boys love attention, especially when they haven’t had it before. I feel that they get a little excited and say, ‘I’m wanted.’
“He even told me on the show that all his ex-girlfriends wanted him sexually. Who says that?
“That’s how he was.
“Then around Christmas he started behaving very strangely, and I thought ‘now I have to follow my instincts’.”
But she still stayed with Georges, and went with him to Paris for her birthday at the beginning of January.
She continues: “Keep in mind that he always said he was very sexual and things like that, that was not right.

“I was like ‘I have to put in a lot of effort here. It’s not the same feeling. Something happened.”
“Then at the end of January he said that he wasn’t happy, but that he didn’t want to go public with our breakup because he didn’t want to deal with public opinion and attention because it would break his heart.
“I was like, ‘Wait, you’re the one who got heartbroken when you broke up with me?’
“‘You don’t want to tell people because you can’t handle it.’ But I said, ‘Yeah, that’s totally fine.'”

Peggy and Georges agreed to release a joint statement to inform fans that they had ended their relationship.
But Peggy then went ahead and told her followers on Valentine’s Day, when her girlfriend texted her with pictures and video evidence of Georges on two dates in December with another girl.
She says: “When you’re in public, you can’t get away with anything. You can’t cheat on someone and expect to get away with it.
“You can’t talk to another girl without people seeing it.

“If anything happens off camera, they’re going to make you do it on camera. If they shoot 95 percent of you, only 5 percent of it will show, and they don’t actually show everything, because it would be impossible to fit it into an hour. But obviously , what happens behind closed doors? that when you talk, everything is recorded, because otherwise things just don’t make sense, and they have to re-record things.”
“You don’t have your phone. So the morning of my wedding when I was getting ready with my mom, they take your phone, and then you’re officially in the process. Then it’s like you’re locked in a cage, like, that’s it, now there’s no way out. You can request your phone, but they’ll be watching you while you’re on the phone to make sure you’re not telling people where you’re filming and not telling people who you’re paired with, at that stage in the process only family should know.”
“I was broken. I remember crying my eyes out.
“I feel like I trusted my intuition in the play, which is a little difficult because I put Georges before my family, and despite my family’s concerns about Georges, I went with my intuition.
“And to be fair, my family ended up loving Georges, which is hard because they trusted him too.
“So I feel like I let my family down in a way, but at the end of the day, it was my decision, my mistakes, and I made my bed, so I have to lay in it.”
The ‘normal’ new man

Peggy now thinks Georges breaking up with her was “the best thing that ever happened”, since she’s dating a new man she met on a night out and likes that he’s not famous.
“I’m quite a private person,” she adds. “Yes, I put my life on TV, but I didn’t do it for fame. I didn’t do it so people would know everything about my life.
“I did it out of love, because I want love. My brother is happily married. My mom and dad have a great relationship.
“Despite my dad being a bit of the way he is, my mom puts up with it, and you think I want it, and that’s why I did it, because I wanted it for myself, not for anyone else.
“And I guess that’s the hardest part.
“But no, that person is not in the public eye. He’s just a normal guy, he’s not a millionaire.”
Another catch for Peggy’s new boyfriend is that he wants a family – something Georges never wanted.
She continues: “I want someone who also wants children. Georges didn’t want children, and it’s difficult for me, because I want a family, but in every relationship you have to agree to a compromise.
“I was willing to stay with Georges, even though he said he didn’t want children, and children are a big thing for me. So yes, I am currently seeing him.
“I just hope he’s the one.”
Men are hard to trust

Peggy refuses to make it official with the man – who is not in the public eye – until he asks her to be his girlfriend.
She says, “I feel like that’s gone today. It’s like if you go on a couple of dates, they just assume it’s exclusive, and yet they can probably still go out and cheat and do whatever they want.
“You have to be faithful, be loyal.
“Until the name of our relationship is revealed, whatever it is, I’m going to keep my options open and just trust my gut, because I think that’s all you can do.”
Peggy also admits that she has a hard time trusting people, especially after Georges allegedly cheated on her.
She explains: “I didn’t think Georges would do what he did, and it surprised me.
“It made me think, ‘Well, if I said publicly that I would trust that person, and I put my all into it, put my life on the line for him, and he did that, how can I trust anybody else that not in the public eye?’”
Since this new man isn’t used to having his life plastered all over social media, Peggy admits that it’s hard for her to know that she went to MAFS – but she tries not to let it get to her.
She says: “Obviously I married a stranger and I realize that must be upsetting. But the thing is, when you’re with someone, you have to take them for who they are, and the past is the past. “I don’t ask him how many girls he slept with or anything like that. I don’t ask intrusive questions, because I take him for granted.
“And I mean, so far so good, but my trust in men is just reduced, like it’s so hard.
“But I have to trust someone or I’ll be alone for the rest of my life. It will be just me and my dog.
“I feel very hopeful about this relationship and I’m just trying to trust him.”
Wedding on the cards?

In fact, Peggy is already thinking about remarrying.
“I honestly thought my wedding to Georges would be the only wedding,” she says. “Georges always told me, ‘no, we’ll do it right again.’
“And I said: ‘No, we don’t need it. Let’s just have kids,’ and then I thought, ‘no, you know what? If he wants to remarry, we will.’
“And then, obviously, when we broke up, I said, that’s it, I’m done, I’m never getting married again. I’m done.
“But I would like to get married again. I have not given up hope of remarrying.”
However, it won’t be the lavish fairytale wedding Peggy had with Georges on MAFS.
He concludes: “At my age, when I know the person is right, I don’t think I want to hang around and plan a wedding for two years.
“I wouldn’t mind if it was just an intimate wedding with our nearest and dearest and then we focus on the house and the kids. But I want to make sure we’re set up financially as a couple before I have kids.”
The Sun asked Georges for comment, who denied he had been unfaithful to Peggy.
He said: “I never cheated on her, it was her actions that pushed me away – actions that we all saw on the show; gaslighting, manipulation, constantly humiliating me.
“I received messages during our time together that she was buying Christmas presents for her ex-boyfriend and hand-delivering them, so Peggy should stop playing that card. Especially when I wasn’t cheating.”
He added: “It’s boring now. It’s nothing so, Peggy, stop talking about me.”
