Mom June Shannon is still processing the death of her daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell.
“I have my good days, I have my bad days – certain things I’ll do remind me of her,” said Shannon, 44. Daily mail in an interview with her family. “We talk about her a lot. We all carry her with us.”
To which her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird remarked that “that’s bullshit.”
“What happens in life and … her not being here is kind of screw you at the end of the day,” Efird continued, explaining that the family’s focus is “keeping her memory alive for her children.”
“We always remind them, ‘Your mom loved you. Your mom is always here with you,'” she added.

Cardwell died in December at age 28, less than a year after being diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer in January 2023. She is survived by daughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison.
Shannon announced the news of her daughter’s death on Instagram with a family photo.
“It is with broken hearts that we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” she began. “She passed away at my home last night at 11:12 pm peacefully. She fought for 10 months, she passed away with her family around her as she will not, and we will update you with more information as we get it today.”
She concluded: “We love you all and our prayers and thoughts are with our family as they go through this difficult time.”

Opening up about her final days with Cardwell, Shannon said Daily mail that “hearing her scream my name at night, listening to her little oxygen wire spinning…she wouldn’t keep her oxygen on for anything'”
“The day before she died, Kaitlyn was helping us give [Anna] medicine — and she would take it only for [her daughter] Kaitlyn,” she continued. “The last things we’ve all made sure to say in the last few days… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said I love you.
