Minas Khacheryan, who disappeared late last week with his brother while fishing, was found dead on Monday.
The 86-year-old joined his brother Grigor Khacheryan, 78, on a fishing trip, but on Friday the two older brothers went missing. Authorities say it’s possible the brothers fell into the water while fishing, KTLA reports.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, authorities found Minas’ body under a bridge in Lancaster, California, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles.
The cause of Minas’ death has not yet been determined, and at this time the sheriff’s office said there is no doubt that it was foul play.
Grigor has yet to be found. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that the search for Grigor, which resumed Tuesday morning, is still ongoing.
Search called off for 2 older brothers who went missing while fishing in a California aqueduct
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Sheriff’s EMS are working together to locate Grigor. About two dozen divers using sonar technology have assisted in the search, and water flow in the aqueduct will be controlled to facilitate the search, the department said in a press release.
The sheriff’s office also shared missing-person reports for the brothers via Facebook on Saturday.
Grigor was last seen with his late brother at 8 a.m. PT on the 1000 block of East Chevy Chase Drive in Glendale before heading toward the aqueduct, police said.
Grigor is in critical condition following recent open-heart surgery, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. Authorities describe him as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and short, balding gray hair.

After their disappearance, Sergeant Michael Rodriguez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office of Missing Persons told NBC 4 that the current speed of the aqueduct may have carried the two men’s bodies miles away from where authorities were searching.
