Lady Gaga Reveals Why She Thinks It's 'Fun to Embrace the Challenge of Being a 38-Year-Old Pop Star'

Lady Gaga is aging proudly.

In a new interview with Buzzfeed Canada to promote her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deuxthe Grammy and Oscar winner opened up about why she enjoys being a 38-year-old pop superstar — and the struggles that come with the position.

Predicting what the next 15 years of her life will look like, Gaga referenced her fiancé Michael Polanski, saying, “I’m so happy to be in love and I’m so excited to have a family, so that’s definitely number one. But also, I really believe in the ability to grow as a person.”

“I think that feeling can give everyone hope, and I just want to keep growing,” said the “Bad Romance” singer and songwriter. “And also, I’m 38 and it’s kind of fun to take on the challenge of being a 38-year-old pop star and figuring out who I want to be now and what I want to say because I really love women.”

Gaga stated at the time, “I really want to be the voice that deserves to be a part of our community.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, A star is born the actress recalled writing Little Monsters Manifestotext shared with fans in the super deluxe box set version in the 2010s A monster of fame.

At the time, Gaga wrote that she was “something of a devoted lunatic” within the “kingdom” of her fans – and is still associated with that statement today.

“I love to be an entertainer – like, really, in my heart, and I always have, whether I’ve been singing for the people eating at the table next to me and my family growing up in the restaurant, or when I get to the piano recital or I’ve done it on his own stage,” she said.

“It’s not a job for me,” Gaga explained. “It’s just a total gift because that’s how I found a sense of security for myself in my life. It’s what makes me feel protected, so my relationship with my fans and why it chokes me up reminds me of the deep connection that we have, and we also feel that you all really understand, that you remember those things.”

Joker: Folie à Deux hits theaters October 4.

Gaga will release a concept accompanying album, Harlequininspired by her character in the film, Harleen “Lee” Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn), on September 27.
