Kansas City Chiefs President Denies Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Relationship Is a ‘Marketing Strategy’

Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan sets the record straight about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship.

Donovan appeared on CNBC Squawk Box November 20, where he defended the legitimacy of the popular couple’s relationship.

As with any celebrity relationship, rumors and accusations that they’re only dating are inevitable, but Swift, 34, and Kelce, 35, have Donovan and the Chiefs organization on their side.

“I’d like to say it was a marketing ploy, but it’s an authentic relationship and we’re lucky to have it,” Donovan said on the show.

The Chiefs president said the connection between the singer and the tight end has been “nothing but good” for the Kansas City organization.

“I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact she’s had on us is this: Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom. She’s an authentic fan, and that’s important to our fans and our fan base, and that’s important to us. and we try to respect that.”

One user on X (formerly Twitter) responded to the video’s post, adding, “I can’t believe after a year and a half we’re still talking about whether or not the relationship is legit and whether or not she’s a real fan,” in response to video.

Another wrote: “That’s right and we don’t care what other fans think about it!”

Swift has attended four of Kelce’s games since the start of this NFL season, after making it to 13 games last year — including the Super Bowl, which required her to return to the US from Tokyo during a series of Eras Tour appearances in Asia.

They went undefeated with Singer in the building, but suffered their first loss of the season to Josh Allen and the Bills in Buffalo on November 17th.

Donovan, on the other hand, strongly supported the romance from the very beginning.

In October 2023, he told PEOPLE that Kelce is a “team player” who can “handle the attention” his relationship with Swift has brought.

Travis is a smart team player, Donovan said at the time. “He can handle it and he was very professional.”
