Martha Stewart Says Her Home-Raised Turkeys 'Have Been Pardoned' This Year and Will Not Be Eaten for Thanksgiving

Martha Stewart turkeys can relax this Thanksgiving.

Said the lifestyle expert Today November 21 that they will not roast any turkeys this turkey day.

“Although I raise my own turkeys, they were pardoned this year. We’ll only eat vegetarian,” said the celebrity chef, who shared her “delicious” baked pumpkin stuffed with brioche during the segment. She explained that the recipe came from her latest cookbook, Marta: Cookand is perfect for her household because there are “a lot of vegetarians [her] family.”

In fact, the pampered turkeys and Stewart’s other animals will have a quiet house (and stable) on Thanksgiving because the cookbook author will be traveling out of the country for the holiday.

“We’re going to Rome,” Stewart recently told PEOPLE. “We’ve decided the kids want to go, the grandkids, so we’re all packing up and going to Rome for a few days to visit the sites.”

Stewart is grandmother to Jude, 13, and Truman, 12, the children of her only daughter, Alexis Stewart.

“We have such an itinerary,” added Martha. “My grandchildren will be angry with me. They think they are going on vacation for five days, but in fact we will see everything. I have quite a trip planned.”
