Mandy Moore Says ‘This Is Us’ Stars Shed ‘Tears’ Reuniting to Mourn Ron Cephas Jones: ‘We Love You’

The cast This is us recently reunited to celebrate the life of Ron Cephas Jones.

In a group photo shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, Mandy Moore posed seated at a table with Chris Sullivan, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson and Jon Huertas after they gathered to remember their late colleague and friend.

“Before tears, we broke bread,” she captioned the post. “I love this family forever. And we love you, Ron.”

Jones died at the age of 66 on Aug. 19 due to “a long-term lung problem,” a rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

“Ron’s inner beauty and soul were evident to the huge audience from his multiple Emmy Award-winning performance on This is us“, the press release states. “He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones.”

Shortly after the news, the cast of the NBC drama shared their tribute to Jones on Instagram.

“Today, life imitates art, and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us,” Brown, who played Jones’ long-lost biological son, wrote in a moving post. “@cephasjaz has passed away and the world is a little less bright. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed.”

“Make them laugh in the next phase of existence and I’ll see you when I get there. ❤️✌🏿✊🏿,” he added, sharing a photo of himself and Jones from This is us.

In her post paying tribute to Jones, Moore wrote: “Meeting and working with Ron on the wild ride of ‘This Is Us’ has been the greatest gift. He was pure magic as a man and an artist… I will cherish all those moments forever.”

“Even though he wasn’t on set as much as we all wished he was, he was such an integral part of the fabric of the show, it was like he was always there,” Moore, 39, continued alongside a photo of the duo in the penultimate episode. “I’ll never forget how special it was to film this episode and welcome him back to say goodbye to our TIU family and the whole experience the right way. I’m so sad.”

“My thoughts and love are with Jasmine and his family and friends. I love you, @cephasjaz,” the actress concluded.

Sullivan also paid tribute to Jones on Instagram, writing: “Can’t believe he’s gone! It doesn’t seem possible. He had such a generous and compassionate heart. I am so grateful for the time we spent together. #RIPRCJ.”

Huertas, 53, admired the late actor’s talent in his tribute: “Ron, you were one of the most talented and warmest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”

“So giving, both personally and artistically. You will be missed not only by me, but the world will miss your spirit,” he continued. “But your extraordinary gift to grace our stages and screens will live forever in our hearts. I love you @cephasjaz… you’re on until the next performance.”
