Fake news spread in Tamil Nadu about migrants from Bihar
A case was filed under Sections 153, 153 (A), 153(B), 505(1)(B), 505(1)(C) of the IPC with the Economic Offenses Wing, Patna, Bihar, FIR No. 03/ 2023, 468, 471, 120(B) and IT Act 67, spreading fake news about alleged violence between the public in Tamil Nadu and workers in Bihar and trying to incite them to fight among themselves.
Several Bihar politicians, including Pappu Yadav, condemned the decision and demanded that the government withdraw the FIR.
Later, a photo was shared on social media in which Manish Kashyap was seen handcuffed and allegedly arrested by the Bihar police. Bihar police condemned the rumours, saying the photo was taken in 2019 when Manish Kashyap was arrested in a separate case.

The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police arrested him on March 18, 2023, after he surrendered. On March 30, 2023, a Madhuri court granted him 3 days of police custody. On November 10, 2023, the Madurai court granted him bail and the NSA (National Security Act) imposed on him was also lifted.
Pooja Pandey’s call recording
In early 2023, Bhojpuri singer Pooja Pandey sang a song about Manish Kashyap, after which someone made a fake call recording by cutting the recordings of Kashyap and Pandey, claiming that they were having an affair. Pooja refuted all such claims and said she never spoke to Kashyap and the recording was fake.
