Marc Webley shooting: Gunman ex of lotto winner Jane Park shot dead outside pub in Edinburgh Hogmanay bloodbath

Gangster ex-lottery winner Jane Park was blasted to death in the street just minutes before the bell rang on New Year’s Eve.

Marc Webley, 38, was shot dead after leaving a Hogmanay party at his local pub in Granton, Edinburgh.

Another man, aged 39, was also wounded in the shooting on Granton Crescent and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Tonight, the police confirmed that they are treating the targeted incident as a homicide as they have stepped up patrols in the area.

Road closures outside the pub on Granton Road and Granton Crescent remain in place while detectives search the scene.

The underworld personality – who recently dated Lotto winner Jane Park – was previously jailed for shooting a rival.

Park took to her Instagram afterward, saying she was “absolutely devastated” by the murder.

Jane re-shared a picture of her and Webley, which was posted on her account a few weeks ago.

A source said: “Webley was involved in a dispute with a well-known person from south Edinburgh.

“For some time it was teeming with threats from both sides. The thing is, the other guy was in Spain when this happened.

“Webley left the Anchor Inn just before the bell and was shot outside. It seems like it was done by someone waiting who knew it would be there.

“Webley is a regular so it was fair to assume he would be there at Hogmanay.

“He was shot in the neck and head and died at the scene.

“Another one was also shot and is in the hospital fighting for his life.”

In 2004, Webley was at the center of a standoff with another robber who cannot be named for legal reasons.

It culminated in 2005 when he fired a pistol at a rival, hitting him once. He was in a cage for 11 years.

After being released from prison, Webley spent six months in a cage for trying to intimidate a man into handing over £1,000 in a garage.

In 2022, he was acquitted of the double murder after a witness claimed she could not identify him.

Jane said on Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m writing this. We heard yesterday.

“If I could caress you again and tell you everything is going to be okay, I would give anything to do it, Marc.

“The months we spent together you taught me some valuable things in life and I will never forget you. I am absolutely devastated.

“The best bed for you is up there, my beauty.”

In November, we told how Jane posted a picture of them hugging in a bar.

The next day, they enjoyed dinner and drinks at the capital’s Urban Bar and Grill in the Village Hotel.

Jane later uploaded more pictures of herself cuddling up with the con artist to the soundtrack of Can You Feel The Love Tonight? — a song recorded by Elton John for the 1994 Disney classic The Lion King.

Jane, who won £1million in 2013, then shared a video of the influencer about how she doesn’t care what others think.

But the couple broke up after just a few weeks together.

Jane’s most notable romance was with X Factor contestant Sam Callahan in March 2017.

The pair grew close after connecting on social media – but things turned sour pretty quickly, with Sam later accusing Jane of being obsessed with him and labeling her a “psycho”.

Jane was reportedly left in tears when he cuddled up to fellow X Factor contestant Soheila Clifford in front of her at the party.

The following month, Sam begged Jane to leave him alone after it emerged she planned to follow him into the Big Brother house to ‘make sure he stays away from the other girls’.

Jane later tried to taunt ex Sam with intimate Snapchat photos with Scottish reality star Brian Matthews.

But it backfired as Jane locked her Twitter page after Brian’s secret girlfriend Victoria Obahor bombarded her with abuse.

Before dating Sam, Jane was in a relationship with racecourse manager Connor George, who was 21 at the time.

She infamously issued him a set of 20 hilarious holiday rules – which Connor shared on Twitter – for his lads’ holiday to Ibiza in 2016, and even gave him a T-shirt saying it was her property.

Jane, then 21, left Sam and started dating Dundee United footballer Jordan Piggott, then 18, after meeting him on Tinder in September 2017.

They had been together for a year and imagined enjoying a night out at Toby Carvery and sharing a steamy kiss in the street after she met his parents for the first time.

Detective Superintendent Graham Grant said: “This is believed to be a targeted incident and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of both men involved.

“Enquiries are at a very early stage to establish all the circumstances surrounding what happened and while officers have already collected CCTV and spoken to various people who were in the area at the time, I would urge anyone with information who they don’t have, he told us to step forward.

“In particular if anyone has private video surveillance, doorbell footage or CCTV of the Granton Crescent/Road area at the time of the incident, please bring it to our attention.

“This incident will undoubtedly cause concern in the local community and officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area and I would like to reassure the public that everything possible is being done to trace whoever is responsible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting 3819 from December 31. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
