Maren Morris and Perfect Match Star Justin Assada Are Newly Dating (Exclusive Source)

Maren Morris moves on!

The Grammy-winning singer recently dated Netflix reality star Justin Assad, a source confirmed to PEOPLE.

Assad first sparked the rumor mill on Wednesday, August 28, when he shared a photo of himself seemingly on a date with Morris, who split from ex-husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023.

The A perfect match The 27-year-old star posted a photo on his Instagram Story of the “Push Me Over” singer, 34, casually sitting across from him at a luxury restaurant sipping a drink.

“Scary movies + Sushi 😫,” he wrote in the caption Story.

Representatives of the couple did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Assada is best known for his appearances in competitive series Survivors of paradise 2023 and the second season of the dating series A perfect matchwhich was broadcast at the beginning of the summer.

In July he appeared at Harry Jowsey’s Boyfriend material podcast, and revealed that he recently moved to Los Angeles from his native Massachusetts — and is enjoying the boost the big move has given his love life.

When Jowsey asked him if he was seeing anyone and joked that he had a date planned with an unnamed “superstar”, Assada said that appearing on reality TV has certainly boosted his profile.

“I went from the bottom of the barrel to the Hinge dates in Boston, and then all of a sudden a show comes on and there are these people that I watched on TV or something, listened to their music growing up, not to sound too cocky, but they’re in my DMs “, he said. “And now I’m here and I’m going on a pretty crazy date on Thursday with someone who’s like, it blows my mind. But yeah, right now I’m just exploring the field and kind of just navigating it.”

While Assad has not named his mystery lover, Morris has previously revealed this cosmopolitanwith Cheap Shots that she was on celebrity dating app Ray.

The “Circles Around This Town” singer finalized her divorce from Hurd in January after nearly six years of marriage, and in June revealed that she is bisexual.

She told PEOPLE last month that she’s “really, really happy” right now and would only consider dating a “spectacularly impressive person [who could] add something to my life.”

“I love my career, I love my baby [son Hayes, 4, with Hurd]I love my home, I love my friends,” she said. “These are all things that are important to me, and I did it. I will only let someone into my life if it enhances anything. They cannot be net negative. They cannot exhaust my resources, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Financially, emotionally, spiritually. You really have to be together to be a part of my life at this point.”

Morris added that she was “enjoying dating for the first time” in her life, and that she was “excited”, although dating again was “harder than you think”.

“This part of me is the most confident and just doesn’t take itself too seriously, so this is the perfect time to come out,” she said. “My rules are just that you have to be really spectacular to push me.”
