Maren Morris Sings Tammy Wynette’s ‘D-I-V-O-R-C-E’ Following Split from Ryan Hurd

Maren Morris marks the end of her marriage to Ryan Hurd with a song.

On Sunday, the singer (33) shared a TikTok of herself singing Tammy Wynette’s country classic “DIVORCE.” In the video, Morris plays guitar and sings the lyrics: “Our DIVORCE becomes final today.”

Marris also produced a clip from the wedding ceremony in which the groom told the bride, “I promise I’m going to smash her whenever I get the chance.” The clip had the words, “I’d be a runaway bride,” written across the top.

A representative for Morris did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Morris filed for divorce from country singer Hurd, 37, in October after five years of marriage.

The “My Church” singer-songwriter filed Oct. 2 in Tennessee, documents obtained by PEOPLE confirm. In the filing, “irreconcilable differences” were cited as the reason for the divorce.

The documents stated that the couple, who have a three-and-a-half-year-old son, Hayes Andrew, had been separated since the date of filing.

Earlier this month, Morris opened up about her single status for the first time and admitted she has no “space” for romance since filing for divorce.

Morris and Hurd first met in 2013 while writing songs for Tim McGraw and married in March 2018 in Nashville after nearly three years of dating.

A year before they tied the knot, Morris opened up to PEOPLE about the couple’s relationship and how their friendship blossomed into romance.

“We’d only been friends for a few years, but there was always that writing chemistry in the room, and at the end of the day, the moment of it was undeniable,” she said. “We had such a foundation built from writing so many songs over the years that we were like, ‘Why are we avoiding this?’ ”
