Margot Robbie Ditches Pink with Her Modern Black Governors Awards Dress

Margot Robbie attended the Governors Awards on Tuesday wearing a sleek modern black dress.

The 33-year-old Critics Choice Awards nominee ditched her traditional Barbiecore-inspired red carpet fashion, opting for a skin-tight floor-length dress with cutouts.

Tuesday’s dress featured a silver design along the plunging neckline and was paired with a pair of 1950s Fred Leighton diamond and platinum waterfall earrings and Kwiat jewels.

Margot Robbie kicks off awards season in yet another Barbie-inspired look

Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, have been reviving some of Barbie’s most legendary red carpet looks since the film premiered, and they show no signs of slowing down.

On Sunday, Robbie arrived at the Golden Globes in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink sequined dress paired with a pink tulle boa. The look was a direct homage to the 1977 SuperStar Barbie dolls. The actress changed into a sleek black version of the dress at the 2024 Golden Globes afterparty at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Other Barbie styles that Robbie has recreated on red carpets since the movie took the box office by storm include the 1992 Magic Earrings Barbie, the 60s Solo in the Spotlight Barbie, and the 1962 Brunette Bubble Cut Barbie.

“We’re finding Barbie references from decades past and making it real for the big Barbie fans out there, the people who actually collect those Barbies,” she said. “We hope to wow them. We combine Barbie references with great designers.”

Her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, echoed the same sentiments in his conversation with PEOPLE, adding that they always try to make sure “Margot’s modern glamor shines through.”

“This press tour was more creative and inspired than anything we’ve done before. Having such a clear and iconic template to build on was a dream,” Scarlett told PEOPLE in July.
