Marilyn Manson Fined and Sentenced to Community Service After Pleading No Contest to Blowing Nose on Videographer

After pleading no contest to blowing a cameraman’s nose during a 2019 concert in New Hampshire, the Associated Press reported that Marilyn Manson was fined and sentenced to community service on Monday.

The 54-year-old musician, whose real name is Brian Warner, appeared in court Monday in Laconia, NH, and pleaded no contest to two counts of simple assault, which he was charged with in connection with the incident at the Bank of Pavilion New Hampshire in Gilford on August 19, 2019.

Manson’s attorney, Howard King, confirmed to PEOPLE the accuracy of the Associated Press story, but declined further comment.

During the performance, the AP reported based on a police affidavit, Manson approached cameraman Susan Fountain and allegedly spat a “big lougee” at her before blowing his nose in her direction later in the show. The video allegedly shows Manson pointing and laughing at her as he walks away.

Three concertgoers — including a security guard — previously told PEOPLE at the time that they saw Manson spitting and “shooting snot” at the cameraman.

Fountain filed charges against Manson in 2021, one of which — related to spitting — was dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

Manson was fined more than $1,400, with $200 suspended as part of the deal, and ordered to serve 20 hours of community service, according to the AP. For the next two years, he must also avoid arrest and notify local law enforcement if he performs in New Hampshire.

Despite not appearing in court, Fountain gave a statement about the incident which was read aloud. “For me, I am a professional person and I have been in this industry for 30 years,” she wrote. “I have worked for many companies and in all the years I have worked with people, I have never been humiliated or treated the way I was by this defendant.”

“His spitting on me and blowing his nose was the most disgusting thing a human being has ever done,” Fountain continued. “I understand that this was not a major criminal charge to begin with, but I was hoping that the defendant would receive a sentence that would make him think twice before doing something like this again.”

The case is unrelated to his ongoing defamation case with ex Evan Rachel Wood and girlfriend Illma Gore, which he filed in March 2022, alleging the pair conspired to force other women to come forward with allegations against him. He also accused them of posing as FBI agents to further coerce the women into believing their families were in danger.

Wood is among at least 15 other women who have accused the rocker of sexual assault. Game of Thrones actress Esmé Bianco also filed a lawsuit in 2021, though a settlement was reached in January.
