Mark Normand is a stand-up comedian and actor from the United States. In 2006, he began performing stand-up comedy in his hometown of New Orleans. He has appeared on Conan, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, as well as other shows in the United States and abroad.

Since about 2015, Normand and Planert have been romantically involved. In a guest appearance on the Relationship Story podcast, she told the story of how she met Normand. When they agreed to go to Normanda’s concert, Planert revealed that she was dating another gentleman. She informed her roommate after the date that she was still thinking about Normand and was advised to contact the comedian.
How did Mae Planert start doing comedy?
Planert wasn’t a comedian when the two started dating. She only became interested then. At first, she was afraid to talk openly about her hobbies for fear that if successful, people would attribute her success to having a famous comedian boyfriend. Planert did not turn to Normand for help and even kept her beginnings in comedy a secret from him. In fact, he didn’t realize she was doing stand-up comedy until they were both scheduled for the same event six months later.
Dating and comedy with Mae Planert and Mark Normand
Since both Planert and Normand are comedians, they rarely discuss humor with each other. She said that since they’ve been doing comedy for their careers, it’s best if it doesn’t affect their relationship. It also helps Planert develop her own style because she doesn’t seek his advice and he doesn’t influence her too much in that regard.
For the same reason, she points out that although they both talk about the same event, they present it in very different ways. Choosing to separate the comedy profession from their relationship has helped them greatly, and they regularly post about each other on social media. It’s unclear if the two want to get married, but they seem to enjoy being together.
