Mark Ronson wants to take Barbie on Broadway! The songwriter, 48, said he would be open to creating Barbie musical following its success with the film’s soundtrack at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Ronson said he “absolutely” wants to be involved in any musical version of the film.
“I’m just waiting for the call,” he added. “It would be amazing. Greta actually did a musical that wasn’t called a musical, so we’d love it.”
Ronson also talked about how working with co-writer Andrew Wyatt on Barbie soundtrack and the comedy song “I’m Just Ken!” — which won Best Song on Sunday — influenced his music-making process.

“I think we really like music and we also like comedy. It’s our second bomb, but we’ve never been able to put them together,” Ronson told reporters about the song performed by Ryan Gosling in the film.
“I think Greta and Noah’s script was so inspiring, we literally put it down and that song came to us very quickly,” he continued. “So I don’t know if we’re going to be happy to get that kind of weather scenario every time, but we really loved working on this.”

“Once we saw Ryan’s performance, we were still working on the song. We thought, ‘Oh my God, we’re going to have to dress up the song in the equivalent of a white mink and two sunglasses,'” he continued. “And then we invited Slash…we were actually so inspired by everything.”
In his speech on Sunday, Ronson thanked Gosling, 43, for his performance in the powerful ballad.
“Ryan Gosling, this is your award as much as it is ours,” Ronson told the actor, who jokingly faked a deadpan reaction when the award was announced. “You made the audience love this song with your unbeatable performance, so thank you.”
