Mark Wahlberg Says He Probably Won’t Be Acting ‘That Much Longer at the Pace I Am Now’

Mark Wahlberg is thinking about his future in Hollywood.

In a recent video interview with Cigar loverMarvin R. Shaken, an Oscar-nominated actor, revealed, “I don’t think I’ll be acting at the rate I’m doing for much longer.”

In a conversation spanning decades as a movie star and producer, Wahlberg, 52, called acting “the hardest thing.”

“I’m certainly working harder now than ever. Certain companies, you kind of build them up, pass them on or get out,” he said.

Of his children – Ella, 20, Michael, 17, Brendan, 14 and Grace, 13, who he shares with wife Rhea Durham, 44 – Boogie nights the star added, “we’ll see what their interests are.”

The family moved from California to Nevada, he revealed in 2022. “Every free moment I have, I’m at home,” he told Conversation in that time.

Earlier this year, Wahlberg said Hey! News his children are “thriving” in their Las Vegas home: “I’ve spent a lot of time in LA pursuing my interests and career, and now it’s time for them to pursue theirs.”

Unlike last year’s three film projects — Uncharted starring Tom Holland, Time for me starring Kevin Hart and Father Stu starring Mel Gibson — Wahlberg did not appear as an actor on screen this year. Among his recent production credits are Father Studocumentary series by Oscar De La Hoya Golden boy and upcoming movies The Union, The Six Billion Dollar Man and Family plan.

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2006 Dead and as a producer of the nominee for the best film in 2010 FighterWahlberg brought such hits as Ballers, Escort, Boardwalk Empire, Deep water horizon and Instant family on big and small screens.

“I started producing out of necessity,” he said Cigar lover ahead of his appearance on the magazine’s September cover. “I didn’t want to sit around and wait for Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, or anybody who was already established before me and who were the guys at the time — and Leo [DiCaprio] — to go and pass the film on until I get my hands on it.”

About giving up his acting job, he added that he would rather be “behind the wheel” on film and TV projects. “You’re going 100 miles an hour on the highway, do you want to be in the back seat without a seat belt or do you want to be behind the wheel?”

He added that his old age is on his mind these days. “I’m no stranger to the fact that I’m definitely halfway there … those are things I definitely think about.”
