Screen Rant: Marley, I want to start with you because scream 4 The most important thing to me is that I’m glad to see you back and have scream 4 is recognized. How did you react when you found out they were working on something new? scream they want Sheriff Judy Hicks is back?
Mary Sheldon: That’s right. Keywords, Sheriff. I am excited. I can not believe it. I got the call out of the blue that they were relaunching the series and Jodie Hicks was coming back, and I was ecstatic. I loved playing Judy in Scream 4, and as you just pointed out, she’s had some nice development since we last saw her. She was promoted from deputy to sergeant. She has a 16-year-old son. Yes, the Scream franchise is amazing and it’s great to be a part of it.
Dylan, we meet you as Wes, Judy’s son, which I guess was named intentionally in honor of the late, great Wes Craven. is that so? What discussions did you have with the filmmakers about this?
Dylan Minnette: That’s true. But unfortunately, it took me a while to realize this. I obviously know everything about Wes Craven, his legacy and what he did with Scream. I knew my character’s name was Wes, but it didn’t really count with me until someone randomly pointed it out to me and they were like, “Yeah, because Wes is named after Wes Craven!” ” I was like, “Oh my God, of course.” I didn’t realize it. I mean, it’s certainly an honor. It’s a subtle nod. But if it’s about me, then I’m all for it. Really good. I am very proud.
If it makes you feel any better, I also spent a minute in the movie. I was like, “Oh, wait!”
Dylan Minnette: Yes, exactly! OK
Marley Sheldon: The great thing about this movie, though, is there are a lot of cool Easter eggs and references. I want to see it so many times just to pick up all the hidden treasures and think, “Oh, wait! That’s where that comes from!” It’s so cool.
There are some very subtle things, like the mention of a last name, a nickname, and you’re like, “Wait a minute!”
It’s a great franchise and there’s something different for everyone scream A ranking of their favorite people.do you have a favorite scream A thread or moment that runs throughout the series?
Marley Sheldon: I think for me, I wouldn’t do the voiceover, but “Hello, Sidney.”
Dylan Minnette: Honestly, I think some of my favorite lines in the series come from this new Scream, but I can’t put my finger on it. But what is my favorite Scream movie? Original. This is my favorite horror movie of all time. We’ve been talking about Drew Barrymore’s opening scene. I mean, that set the tone for everything and helped get this team to where it is now with that incredible opening shot. That has to be my favorite moment.
Marley Shelton: No one knew she was guest starring. That’s another thing. This was a total surprise.
Dylan Minnette: Really?
Mary Sheldon: Yeah!
