Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ewan McGregor correspond in both their love and business lives!

The Scott Pilgrim takes off voice actress tells PEOPLE that she and her husband “love working together” on film projects.

“Sometimes, especially when you have kids, just to have the opportunity to be together and not in different places — the gratitude that comes with that elevates the experience, because you’re just so grateful to be in the same place at the same time,” says Winstead, 39, who shares 2-year-old son Laurie with McGregor, 52.

“And besides, we just love acting together,” she adds. “I can’t think of a more fun partner to do it with, so it’s great.”

Winstead and McGregor met on the set of the FX series Fargo in late 2016, when they both joined the cast during Season 3, playing each other’s love interests. At the time, McGregor was still married to his now-ex-wife Eve Mavrakis, and Winstead was married to her now-ex-husband Riley Stearns. After their marriages ended, the Costars started dating.

The two welcomed their first child together in June 2021, after nearly four years together, and married the following April.

Now Winstead and McGregor have teamed up again for the upcoming Paramount+ series Mr. in Moscow, which the actress tells PEOPLE is “a wonderful show to work on together” with her husband. They are also a part Star Wars universe: Winstead is hot off her role as Hera Syndulla in the Ahsoka series on Disney+, while McGregor was the main character in the show Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“We’re very excited that it’s finally coming out. And now we’re going to figure out what’s next one day at a time,” says Winstead.

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Relationship Timeline

When asked by PEOPLE if McGregor is a fan Scott Pilgrim in the world, Winstead says he’s seen the series and even has a special piece of clothing that pays tribute to his wife’s free-spirited nature.

“He has this shirt that he’ll throw out every now and then and just wear, that always makes me smile and laugh, that has a photo of me as Ramona Flowers on it and says ‘I’m in lesbians with her,'” she says.

In the film, Winstead’s character is the main love interest of the titular Scott Michael Cera, who believes the “L word” stands for “lesbians” and tells Ramona near the end of the film, “I’m with you on lesbians.”

Winstead adds of McGregor with a laugh, “Sometimes when we’re out, he’ll take his sweater off and that’s the shirt he’s wearing. It makes me so happy.”

Scott Pilgrim takes off now streaming on Netflix.
