Mattel Accidentally Lists Adult Film Website on 'Wicked' Doll Boxes: "We Deeply Regret This Unfortunate Error"

Mattel has clearly made a terrible mistake!

The toy company behind Barbie and Hot Wheels accidentally listed an adult movie website on its doll boxes for the new Wicked movie, according to consumers and box photos published in Yahoo and New York Post.

Consumers took to social media to call out the typo, with many including photos and videos of their purchases and the URL listed on the doll boxes.

The website seen in the toy packaging photos leads to an adult website with the same name as the movie, not the movie’s website.

“LMAO Universal Pictures put the wrong website for @wickedmovie on the back of their kids dolls. It leads to a p0rn website,” X user wrote.

Along with their post, the consumer shared two photos, one of which shows them purchasing singing dolls inspired by the film’s main characters Elphaba and Glinda (played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande).

Another photo shows the incorrect website printed above the barcode.

Another person shared a similar post, writing, “Official Mattel Wicked dolls link to p0rn page on box.”

A third user said she checked her doll products after being alerted to a typo. “I was just informed that my official Mattel WICKED dolls have a p0rn page printed on them…it’s true! WTF?!!” she wrote.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Mattel wrote, “Mattel was made aware of a typographical error on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked doll collections, sold primarily in the U.S., that was intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page . We deeply regret this unfortunate mistake and are taking immediate action to correct it.”

The film — which will be released in two parts — tells the origin of the Wicked Witch of the West from L. Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s book. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

However, the infamous villain is introduced as a student of Elphaba, who meets Glinda (the future Good Witch) at Shiz University, where the two become roommates and then unlikely friends until evil comes between them.
