Matthew Perry Was ‘Kind and Funny’ to Rumer Willis While Filming with Dad Bruce on The Whole Nine Yards

Rumer Willis is remembering Matthew Perry following the 54-year-old actor’s death Saturday from an apparent drowning.

The 35-year-old actress shared her memories of hanging out with Perry when he starred with father Bruce Willis in the 2000 crime comedy. The whole nine yards and its sequel from 2004 The whole ten yards.

“So sad to hear that Matthew Perry has passed away,” Rumer shared on her Instagram Story. “When I was a kid and I was on set with him and my dad doing the whole nine and the whole 10 yards, he was so kind and funny and sweet with my sisters and me and I think his physical comedy and that movie still make me laugh . so much.”

“I know he had a lot of challenges in his life and he brought a lot of joy to people with his comedy,” she continued. “I hope he can rest in peace.”

Bruce’s wife Emma Heming Willis also shared a sweet tribute to Perry on her Instagram Story. She posted a throwback video of Bruce and Perry being interviewed together while promoting The Whole Ten Yards asking them why their chemistry works so well.

“We’re friends,” Bruce said, with Perry adding, “We enjoy making each other laugh and having a good time and we hope people enjoy watching that.”

She captioned the clip “Matthew” and two heart emojis.

Matthew Perry Calls ‘Whole Nine Yards’ Costar Bruce Willis ‘Coolest Man I’ve Met’

Last year, Perry shared his love for his former co-star after the 68-year-old die Hard actor after his aphasia diagnosis was revealed.

“Dear Bruce Willis, I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through, but you’re still the coolest man I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Perry wrote in heartfelt message to Bruce on social media in that time. “You will remain in my prayers for a long time.

Perry, who was best known for his role as Chandler Bing friends, was found dead in a Los Angeles home on Saturday, TMZ reported, citing law enforcement sources.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE that officers responded to a call at Perry’s address regarding the death of a man in his 50s, but would not confirm the identity of the deceased.

TMZ was also told it was not foul play, and their sources said emergency responders were called to the residence for cardiac arrest.

Representatives for Perry did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
