It seems Keri Russell is always on Matthew Rhys’ mind, and he made sure to give her a sweet hello as she marked 25 years since winning the Golden Globes.
In 1999, Russell won Best Actress in a Television Drama Series for her role in Felicityand Rhys reminded his wife of the anniversary on the red carpet during Diversity and ETDigital pre-show of the Golden Globes. She was shocked by the memory of her husband, because he had pulled the year, 1999, out of his mind the moment the win was mentioned.
Rhys, 49, who met Cocaine bear actress on Americanssaid he was “incredibly proud” of Russell, 47, “always – but especially tonight,” in light of the anniversary of her first win and her nomination at this year’s show.
Russell is nominated again for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series — this time for Netflix Diplomat. The nomination is her fourth overall. She was previously awarded in the same category by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in 2017 and 2019 for her role in Americans, with your current partner.

She said about the nomination on the red carpet: “It’s so much fun to participate in the show.” To be celebrated and recognized for this is just fun.”
The Netflix series, which was renewed for a second season days after its premiere, stars Russell as Kate Wyler, the new US ambassador to the UK who finds herself at the center of an international crisis as her marriage hangs in the balance.
She said Wrap that despite juggling three children with Rhys, she was convinced to join the show after reading just one episode. “I said, ‘Y—, this is really good,'” she said.
“It was the first thing I wanted to do in a million years,” she told the newspaper.

Felicitywhich earned Russell a Golden Globe in 1999, aired from 1998 to 2002 and featured the actress as the titular protagonist following her high school crush, Ben (Scott Speedman), to college.
In her award speech, she thanked the show’s creators, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves, calling it “so special and different.”
“This is so … encouraging is the word that comes to mind, more than thank you,” Russell said. “Just to be able to do something that you’re so proud of, and to be recognized for, is huge.”

Like his wife, Rhys has also been nominated twice for his role in Americansand in 2019, they joked about their plan to deal with the night, should it go sideways.
“We talked about whether one of us was actually going to win,” Rhys said during Hey! News before the show, and Russell said their plan would be to “break up”.
“Yeah, if you win, I’m leaving,” Rhys joked. “If I win, you’re gone.”
