Mauricio Umansky Says He's 'Taking It Day by Day' with Kyle Richards — but 'We're Both Happy'

The ‘Buying Beverly Hills’ star became the first ‘Housewives’ husband to take the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ stage — and he has ‘100 percent’ support from his family

Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards are taking one step at a time in their marriage.

In the middle The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple’s divorce, the 53-year-old realtor is learning some new moves and routines as part Dancing with the stars‘ actors in season 32.

“You know, we’re holding on, we’re working on all our stuff, which everybody knows about, and we’re just taking it day by day,” he said. Party tonight Wednesday when the all-star lineup for the dance competition was announced.

He continued: “We try not to let the press affect us and all the social media and all the things that are going on. So we try to ignore it and figure it out ourselves.”

Umansky confirmed: “I can tell you that we are both happy.”

The housewives husband is the first man from the Bravo franchise to dance for a chance to win the coveted Mirrorball trophy — something he didn’t realize until he signed up. “I feel honored and glad that I could be the one to pave the way for other Househusbands,” he said.

When he takes the floor, Umansky said he’s “100 percent” sure viewers will see his entire family cheering him on from the sidelines.

PEOPLE exclusively broke the news of the couple’s new relationship in July. “Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for some time, but they still live under the same roof,” a source said at the time. “They have remained amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”

A few hours later, the spouses, married for 27 years, issued a joint statement, denying any claims of divorce. “There was no foul play by anyone,” they wrote. “Even though we are in the public eye, we ask that we be able to address our issues privately. While it may be fun to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit into a further corrupt narrative.”

In late August, Richards spoke on Amazon Live with fans about the split: “You know this was very hard to do [because] he plays with so many people watching us and [with us] to be in public.”

Season 32 of Dancing with the stars premieres September 26 on ABC and will air on Disney+ and Hulu.
