The Secret Lives of Mormon Women star Mayci Neeley opens up about her “heartwarming” relationship with MomTok cast member Whitney Leavitt following the series’ Sept. 6 premiere.
In an interview on Squeals downstairs podcast with Jana Kramer on September 29, Mayci opened up about friendships within MomTok, noting that “most of us are good.” However, she noted that “there is one girl in our lineup [is] not very good,” apparently referring to Whitney.

On The Secret Lives of Mormon Women, the ongoing tension between Whitney and the other MomTok members came to a head when she decided to skip Mayci’s Baby Mama launch party.
In the series, Mayci confronted Whitney at Mikayla Matthews’ birthday party, telling her that she felt it was “selfish” of Whitney not to show up.

During the podcast, Mayci revealed that since the series premiere, she and Whitney have been “cordial” with each other.

“I don’t think we’re even a fraction as close as we were when we started the show because of everything that happened at the end and her not being supportive,” Mayci explained. “I won’t be [in a] one-sided friendship.”
Although Mayci said she feels bad about the “heat” Whitney is causing online, she’s still not close with her.
“It was very difficult for her and I completely understand where [Whitney]It comes with all that,” Mayci said. However, she said she’s still not close with Whitney because of “certain things she’s done publicly, like putting our lyrics online.”
After the series premiere, Whitney took to social media and posted screenshots of her messages to Mayca days before the party, where she told her she wouldn’t be coming. However, Mayci explained that she received messages during filming and that Whitney can be “very impulsive” and “often changes her mind.”

“I read that text and I was like, ‘I’m recording; so I don’t want to answer. And I don’t want to tell the girls what you just said because I knew they’d be mad.’ ”

Despite viewers believing her to be a “moderator” and “blindly loyal”. The Secret Lives of Mormon Women, Mayci clarified that while she wasn’t as harsh on Whitney on the show, she also wasn’t totally supportive of everything she did.

“There were things that were cut [from the show]” she explained. “I would be, like, ‘hey. listen, you have to understand whatever is going on.’ And I was very open with her. I definitely called her out on certain things.”
Mayci also defended herself against criticism that she was “playing both sides” throughout the season, noting that she was “just trying to live [her] life” during filming.
– I was just trying to survive, to be honest.
