MCD schools in Delhi closed until July 16

Delhi Municipal Corporation Schools Closed: Delhi Municipal Corporation schools will remain closed until July 16, 2023 due to flood conditions in the capital. The announcement was made under the guidance of officials from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

According to officials, all supported, accredited and MCD schools will remain closed until July 16. The civil service also issued an order to close schools on Thursday.

Earlier, MCD announced the closure of 10 schools in low-lying areas of the Civil Area and Shahadra area due to a flood-like condition caused by rising water levels of the Yamuna River.

Ministry of Education officials also said all public and private schools in Delhi will remain closed until July 16 due to record high water levels in Yamuna. Roads in the city were flooded causing heavy flooding and damage to homes. Watering problems have been observed in medical facilities, crematoriums and shelters that interfere with daily life.

However, an official from the Central Water Commission assured that the water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has stabilized and will begin to recede. According to data from the Flood Monitoring Commission, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge rose to 208.62 meters at 1pm and remained stable until 4pm.
