McDonald’s launches rare US Grimace Shake in the UK TODAY for the first time ever – but it won’t be around for long

MCDONALD’S has launched a brand new drink across all UK outlets today – but you’ll have to act fast if you want to try it.

The Grimace Shake has already become a hit in the United States and went viral when it hit American restaurants last year.

The sweet treat is purple in color and contains blueberry flavored syrup mixed with a creamy milkshake base.

A medium drink will set you back £2.69, while a large version of the shake is £2.99, although prices may vary by location.

The shake was inspired by the fast food chain’s purple Grimace mascot, which was first introduced in the 1970s.

The fictional character was initially an evil character who stole milkshakes from customers.

However, it was later renamed into a more friendly cartoon.

McDonald’s 1,450 UK restaurants will stock the drink from today, August 28.

You can also order it online, through McDelivery, UberEats and Deliveroo, but you will have to pay the delivery costs at the factory.

If you want to try the creamy drink, you’ll have to act fast.

Grimace Shake will disappear from the menu in just one week.

The sun tries McDonald’s summer menu

That means you’ll have to get it before September 4th.

The drink was already a fan favorite when it hit US stores last year, and went viral on TikTok.

It launched in the US last June as a limited edition menu item and then in Canada last May.

The shake is just one of many new menu items arriving at McDonald’s stores over the coming weeks.

The home of the Big Mac is changing its menu to welcome the return of its infamous Monopoly game.

Players participating in the Monopoly game can collect stickers from food packaging that represent railway stations or road names in matching colors – just like in the classic game.

But not all menu items are worth the same amount, and that determines how you claim your reward.

For example, instant win food rewards can be redeemed at any McDonald’s location by handing over a token at the counter when you order.

You will need to hand the game pieces to a member of staff when you pick up your meal.

To coincide with the return of the peel-off event, many favorites are returning to the menu.

These include Mozzarella Dippers and Philly Cheese Stack.

The menu change will take place on September 4, when McDonald’s Monopoly returns, and will last for six weeks.

How to save money at McDonald’s

Research by The Sun found that a Big Mac meal can be up to 30p cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart.

In the meantime, you can grab a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 by completing the feedback survey found on every old McDonald’s receipt.

The payment receipt should come with a 12-digit code that you can enter on the Food for Thought website with your submitted survey.

You will then receive a five digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.

Be sure to check out all the different apps and platforms if you’re ordering McDonald’s to your home, too.

Our research has shown that some can charge up to £1.20 more than others
