The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Is Returning to NYC – and Bringing Icon Tyra Banks Back Too

They are back!

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is returning to the catwalk this fall — and two of the brand’s most famous faces announced the news on Instagram on August 28.

Tyra Banks — an angel who walked in nine shows during her tenure with the brand — and Gigi Hadid (who walked in three shows, plus a tour last year) took to Instagram to announce that the famous Victoria’s Secret show will return to New York 15 October.

As Hadid enters the hotel lobby, Banks greets her with a performance invitation in hand, wearing a logo T-shirt and jacket advertising this year’s show. Hadid is understandably delighted by the appearance of a top model in front of her. Banks hands her her own invitation before turning and walking away — but not before Hadid tells her she loves her.

The video was captioned: “Sorry we couldn’t write a caption, we were too busy picking our jaws off the floor at @tyrabanks & @gigihadid delivering VSFS invitations. You understand” and was set to the tune of “Femininomenon” by Chappelle Roan .”

Banks commented, “What we really need is a feminomen!”

The brand previously announced that models Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Devyn Garcia, Paloma Elsesser, Taylor Hill and Mayowa Nicholas will walk in this year’s show.

Victoria’s Secret reimagines the fashion show as a feature film starring women from around the world

Victoria’s Secret announced in May that the runway would be held this fall. “We read the comments and heard you,” read the caption on Instagram. “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is ✨ BACK ✨ and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more! Stay tuned… it gets even more iconic from here. 🪽”

In a statement shared with People, a Victoria’s Secret brand representative said the 2024 show will be more inclusive than in years past. “The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will deliver exactly what our customers have been asking for — glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, fun — all through a strong, modern lens that reflects who we are today,” said a representative. “We are thrilled to share the articulation of this iconic, female-led property later this year!”

After being canceled in 2019, Victoria’s Secret returned with the 2023 Tour. The spectacle was a non-traditional broadcast show filmed in Barcelona; Lagos, Nigeria; Bogotá, Colombia; London; and Tokyo and aired on Prime Video. While it wasn’t what you’d expect from a catwalk show with models walking up and down the runway, the show did feature models — including some famous faces like Adriana Lima and Hadid — modeling Victoria’s Secret styles.

Gone are the wings of yesteryear — for which the brand became famous. The models were called Angels after all.

However, the show and the brand came under fire in 2019, when the runway was cancelled. After being criticized for not being inclusive enough, Victoria’s Secret rebranded in recent years, ditching the Angels and launching the VS Collective.

This new initiative focused more on celebrating women and encouraging greater diversity and inclusivity in marketing, branding and apparel options.

The new Victoria’s Secret fashion show is another step towards the brand’s new future.
