Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue to support competitors at the Invictus Games.
On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out for another day of competition at the 2023 sports tournament in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Invictus Games were founded by Prince Harry in 2014, and the inaugural event was held in London. The international adaptive sports competition is organized for injured, sick and wounded members and veterans.
Harry, who turns 39 on Friday, and Meghan, 42, held hands as they stepped out for their first date of the day. They met with the NATO Joint Forces Command and families from Italy and the Netherlands, posing with them for a group photo.
While Prince Harry looked sharp in a suit without a tie, Meghan opted for a head-to-toe beige ensemble with gold accessories (but still sans engagement ring). They both sported sunglasses as they made their way to the outdoor photo shoot.

After a change of clothes for Meghan, the couple headed to the sitting volleyball match between Nigeria and Ukraine at the Merkur Spiel Arena.
Meghan was spotted holding a Nigerian flag in the stands.
Prince Harry said his wife was supporting the nation, which is new to the Invictus Games this week, during his opening speech on Saturday.
“Now, I’m not saying we play favorites in our home, but since my wife discovered that she’s of Nigerian descent, it’s probably going to be a little more competitive this year,” he joked in his speech. Last fall, the Duchess of Sussex revealed on her podcast, archetypes, that she recently learned that she is 43% Nigerian on a genealogy test.

On Wednesday, Prince Harry and Meghan posed for photos with the Nigerian team and the national flag, and Hello! magazine he reported that the detachment presented them with a Chief of Defense plaque.
The team also had a new nickname for Meghan. According to the media, she was named “Amira Ngozi Lolo”, which has a royal meaning. Amira is the name of a warrior princess from legend, while Ngozi means “blessed” and Lolo means “royal wife”.

Also on Wednesday, the pair attended the swimming finals and handed out medals (and high fives!) at the children’s event. They were also in the stands to watch the wheelchair basketball game between Ukraine and Australia, which Ukraine won 8-6.
Ahead of the match, the pair met some of the contestants before taking their place in the stands, where they posed for photos with spectators, signed autographs and took part in waves from the crowd.
Team Australia also took the opportunity to present Harry with a rather unique gift — a pair of “budgie smugglers” (the Australian term for Speedos) emblazoned with the flags of the nations competing in the Invictus Games.
Sharing a Photography moment on Xu, formerly known as Twitter, the Invictus Games Foundation account wrote: “It wouldn’t be the #InvictusGames if the Aussies didn’t give our patron the Duke of Sussex a beautiful piece of swimwear!”

“Just like many of you, we know it’s about family and friends and the community that Invictus has created, that the House of Fischer has created, so I had to spend a little more time getting our little ones home,” she said in her speech.
“I get a milkshake, I go to school and then I landed a few hours ago. I am delighted that the first event I can organize with Invictus is here with you all.”
