Meghan Markle surprised women and children at a community cafe in Düsseldorf before flying back to California.
Photos of the Duchess of Sussex, 42, appeared on TrebeCafé’s Instagram story on Tuesday, showing Meghan interacting with some members of the community. TrebeCafé, which supports women and girls who are homeless, shared photos of the Duchess interacting with the girl and smiling in a photo with the woman.
A spokesperson for TrebeCafé confirmed to PEOPLE that Meghan visited the cafe on September 13 and spoke with staff and patrons, who the organization supports in living confident lives.
“The young women were very surprised by the visit and the fact that a celebrity was taking the time to talk to them,” a spokesperson told PEOPLE exclusively. “The duchess also joined in preparing lunch for the young women and their children. She was very open and approachable, and we are very grateful that we had the opportunity to welcome her.”

Meghan’s visit came as she joined her husband Prince Harry at the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, which the Duke of Sussex founded in 2014 for wounded, ill or injured military personnel and veterans.
Harry arrived in Germany ahead of his wife to kick off the event. Meghan reunited with him at the Family & Friends party on September 12. Giving her speech, Meghan apologized for being “a little late to the party” and revealed she had to bring her children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two. , settled at home, according to Hello! magazine.
“I get a milkshake, I go to school and then I landed a few hours ago,” she explained. “I’m delighted that the first event I can organize with Invictus is here with you all.”
They spent the next few days in the stands at sports competitions, from wheelchair basketball to swimming.
Friday was a special occasion: Prince Harry’s 39th birthday! At the sitting volleyball match between Poland and Germany, he was serenaded with a performance of the song “Happy Birthday”.
They also marked the big day by going out to a local brewery the night before. The pair ate Weiner Schnitzel, blood sausage and German sausages, the restaurant said in an Instagram post, calling the group “very nice people.”

On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the closing ceremony.
Prince Harry took the stage and gave a speech at the end of the ceremony.
“We have all witnessed the real impact sport has had on your recovery. But you will never truly know the impact your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world,” the Duke of Sussex said. “You opened people’s hearts, through your vulnerability, through your resilience and your sheer ability. You showed us that joy can come from struggle.”
