“If you’re here for the first time, you see a black and white photo of the bridge,” Jackson says at the beginning of the video.
“If he comes back a second time, we hope he’ll see it in color.”
Jackson goes on to explain the illusion and how, by looking at the circle in the center of the photo, your eyes can see the color even when it’s not there.
“Whatever you’re doing, look right in the center of that circle,” he says.
He stressed the importance of continuing to watch the circle even when the video loops back to the beginning.
“If your eyes move, the color will be lost,” he says.
The colors on the screen change as viewers circle around.
Explaining the reason for this change, Jackson says that “the psychedelic colors you see now are designed to fatigue some of the retinal receptors at the back of the eye.”
“When I take them off [the colors]only those that are necessary to paint the picture should be encouraged,” Jackson continues.
The video then loops back to the beginning, letting viewers try out the illusion.
“Incredible, I saw very vivid colors,” a TikToker commented on the video.
“Woahhh, I didn’t expect the color to be so vibrant,” another person wrote.
“AHHHH amazing! I only saw it for a split second but it was in full color!” someone else wrote.
“Honestly I thought it was a different image when the video started again,” said another.
