Mojo Nixon, singer of the song “Elvis Is Everywhere”, passed away. He was 66 years old.
Nixon (born Neill Kirby McMillan Jr.) was found dead Wednesday after suffering a “heart attack” while on the annual Outlaw Country Cruise, his family said in a statement on Facebook.
The musician performed on a cruise ship the night before. He was a frequent performer and co-host on the annual trip.
“My Nixon. As you live, so you should die. Mojo Nixon was full tilt, wide open, rock hard, pig rooted, two wheel bend + on fire…,” his family wrote. “Go after a great show, a wild night, bar closing, take no prisoners + a good breakfast with band mates and friends.”
“The heart event on the Outlaw Country Cruise is about right… and he did just that, Mojo left the building.”
“Since Elvis is everywhere, we know he was waiting for him in the back alley. May heaven be with us all”, the press release concluded.
The performer was born on August 2, 1957 in North Carolina. He grew up in Virginia, but began his musical career in Denver, where he joined the punk band Zebra 123.

After the punk band broke up, he traveled to San Diego and joined Dick Montana’s band, the Snuggle Bunnies. Richard Banke, also known as Skid Roper, joined the band. The group won Best New Band in San Diego during the Battle of the Bands. They also scored a three-hour recording session at Soundtrax Studios in San Diego.
Soon after, Nixon and Roper signed with Enigma Records, which helped them release their debut album in 1985. Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper. Two years later, Nixon was released Bo-Day-Shus!!!, which started with his hit “Elvis Is Everywhere”.

Tribute to celebrities who died in 2024
After the success of “Elvis Is Everywhere” — which led him to perform at Performance in the Arsenio Hall — the artist has released several albums with multiple collaborators, such as Toadliquors and Jello Biafra.
Two years after the success of “Elvis is Everywhere”, Nixon entered the acting business. He played James Van Eaton in the 1989 Jerry Lee Lewis biopic Big fireballs. His credits are also included Super Mario Bros from 1993 and Car 54, where are you? next year.
He then switched to hosting radio shows in Cincinnati, Ohio and San Diego. Initially, he got a job with SiriusXM, the host Outlaw Country: Music That Won’t Be Fenced show.
His Land of outlaws A co-worker, Elizabeth Cook, also shared the news of his death on Facebook. “I am sorry to share that Mojo Nixon, my partner in crime on SiriusXM Outlaw, passed away today aboard The Outlaw Country Cruise. He was a total maniac, a complete nuisance and I will miss him.”
In 2022, a documentary film about his life premiered at SXSW titled The Mojo Manifesto: The Life and Times of Mojo Nixon.
