Mom Is Shocked to Learn Her Daughter Already Gave Birth in Sweet Video: ‘I Thought It Was a Doll’

A grandmother got quite a surprise after she arrived at the hospital to help her daughter give birth.

In a video posted on TikTok by user hopezvyhkn, a woman recorded her own mother’s reaction when she saw her baby granddaughter for the first time.

“When you didn’t tell anyone that you were in labor 😍. Mom thought she was coming to help me with labor, but the little girl was already there,” the new mom wrote along with the video.

At the beginning of the video, the grandmother is seen entering the hospital room with a smile on her face, before pausing at the foot of the bed, where the newborn girl is resting on a pillow with a blue bow on her head.

The baby’s mom and dad laugh at the reaction, before grandma starts crying happy tears.

“What happened?” the grandmother asks, and the baby’s father answers: “We arrived around 8:45 [p.m.] last night. Grandma, still shocked, replies: “I thought it was a doll! Are you kidding me?”

The newlyweds become parents when the ‘fighting spirit’ baby arrives at 22 weeks, weighing just over 1lb.

In the comments section, many users reacted to the video — which has garnered over 45 million views, over 5 million likes and nearly 25,000 comments — noting how sweet the moment was.

“The fact that grandma respected your choice to have a baby without her, enjoyed the experience and put on a mask to be safe 👏👏👏,” wrote one user.

Another remarked: “My mum would be soooooo mad if I did it without her but I’m so happy you had a safe delivery.”
