Will Smith and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Costar Janet Hubert Embrace at Book Event After Reconciliation

Will Smith and Janet Hubert are still on great terms after reconciling in 2020.

Former The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costars embraced in a new video posted to Instagram on Thursday as Smith, 55, supported Hubert, 68, at a literary event for her project JG and the BC Kids, which champions book smarts and street kids.

“WOW!! Thanks to my dear friend @janethubertformyfanspage for inviting me to help you bring your amazing JG and the BC Kids project to the world!” Smith captioned the video the couple shared.

“It was wonderful and a pleasure to show 200 students from @embracegirlpower a taste of your genius, Janet!! Okay — who are we going to show the project to next?? #embracegirlpower #jgbckids,” he added.

Smith and Hubert reunited to launch the project in an Instagram video posted Friday.

In the video, Smith and Hubert can be seen hugging and catching up.

“Oh my God! Thank you for coming, baby!” Hubert told Smith, “Oh man, this is beautiful. This is beautiful,” he replied.

“You haven’t changed a bit,” Hubert added, touching Smith’s cheek. “Oh, these are nothing but the best nuts and berries,” the actor joked in response as he stroked his head and face.

The founder of the project later presented Bad boys star on stage in front of an auditorium filled with young schoolchildren, who screamed with excitement at the sight of Smith. The actor then proceeded to coax the children to join him in the chorus as he called out to Hubert. He also recited a quote from a JG and BC Kids book as he stood next to his former costar on stage.

Speaking to the students, Smith said: “At different times in our childhood, even when we were your age, you know, we struggled with feeling that we were different and that we had something inside of us that we wanted to share with the world. .”

The video ended with the actor performing another inspirational song with the students.

Hubert previously shared that she is in a peaceful place with Smith after the duo took part in an emotional reconciliation in an HBO Max special celebrating 30 years. The Fresh Prince in November 2020.

The pair sat down for the first time in decades for the special as they aired the years-long feud that developed between them during and after Huberta’s time on the hit show, following its exit in 1993.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 2021, Hubert said, “I don’t know if it’s a comeback … It’s right now … I always had to prove myself. I also had to go in with an assumption, and I don’t have to do that anymore, which is really nice .”

Original aunt Viv added that she and Smith now have a “very good relationship” since the special.

“We’re constantly texting each other back and forth,” Hubert explained. “I thought with all my heart when I hugged him, because I saw that little boy, that little boy of 21 years. If we had the chance to talk then, I don’t think this would have ever happened.”
